I have been doing a similar process to make a sheet 1cm X 20cm X 30cm in an electric toaster oven. Very cool to see this on a larger scale. I have 2 questions - 1. did you make the molds? 2. What is the finest sanding paper that you use? I really like the way you create the patterns in the plastic. The video was great and gave me some new ideas to try. Thanks so much for for producing it.

Awesome vid and the guy and webpage info i was searching for because over a few years i've caught his vids and it's really great to see it has progressed a lot and the product line and options i was just finally checking out...Also i am wondering if the flat sheets could maybe be plastic welded together once attached to a frame for example , like if a plastic shed was made with the sheet as it's sheathing using screws, maybe the seams can be heated and seamed water tight ....i finally have some space but i am arranging it still , i do metalwork and mechanical work but i am excited to see another product and trade to add along with it....i will be sure to contribute or probably order off the precious plastics once i get it rolling , thankyou for showing us the shop and my closed caption is off for example "gallon" it read "balloon" etc, but she comminicated well and produced exactly what i've been interested in besides the extrusions i saw on the webpage and bricks , the interlocking brick methods are very interesting too....hopefully i'll be able to design entire shed kits and produce the flat sheets and some sand brick paver blocks too ....oh lastly i have never seen a method to make ones own air-ated plastic similar to polystyrene insulation for it's floatation and insulating qualities , i know some fire-proofing agent is added because i tested small piece of insulation foamboard i use a lot it started at $30/sheet for 2" and jumped to $50/ 4'x8 foot in weeks and i still need more , it's useful for fiberglassing boat hulls to get the form and leave as floatation , etc.....srry my replies get too long, God Bless thankyou hopefully over the next few months i'll be able to get my shop set up (wow ! )

The only way to win the plastic battle... is to never produce it in the first place. Think about it! Everyone on earth needs to get back to doing things the old fashioned way WITHOUT most of the plastics we use. Oh wow... how did we ever get along without plastics?!? We got along just fine without most of them and we should get back to that. 🤔 - Max Giganteum
@mavigogun

@@MaxGiganteum If we do nothing, most all the plastic ever made will remain in the environment for many, many generations to come. We can't wish-away production with dreams of a time before plastic: we either clean up our mess- and in the process, capture the energy and carbon sunk into that production -or we choke in it. "The only way" is a proscription that has already failed.
@MaxGiganteum

@@mavigogun You would be correct about existing plastics... the problem just doesn't go away. You're also correct about dreaming things away - that's not a solution and it doesn't work. It takes action for solutions to come about. You're correct about cleaning up the mess. It's important to do it precisely so we don't choke on it. However, focusing our efforts on moving away from plastics is the only true solution to the problem. The sooner we stop producing the plastics, the sooner there won't be a mess to clean up. You have to look at it like a serious injury that produces bleeding. You can keep slap a gauze pad on the problem and apply pressure to keep the patient from bleeding out but the only true solution is to properly repair the injury. If it requires stitches then you must clean up, disinfect and stitch up the wound. Putting in the same amount of time, energy and money into reducing and ultimately removing the production of most plastics as opposed to continuously cleaning up the mess is the only true solution. Think of it this way: you have a kitchen. One day you walk in and discover the faucet has failed and water is spraying all over the wall, the counter and down onto the floor. Left unchecked, you realize correctly that the water will flood the house and ultimately ruin it. Now ask yourself this question: do I grab a mop and start mopping up the water OR do I first turn off the water and then grab the mop to clean up the water? The answer should be obvious. Plastic is essentially like an unchecked water spigot that's not only spraying water all over the kitchen, the water flow is getting worse. Every day, the amount of plastic produced on the earth goes up. Right now, we're trying to mop up the water without turning off the plastics spigot. For the record, I'm not suggesting that we not clean up the plastics mess... or any of the mess. I'm stating that it's more important to turn off the plastics spigot before we get so far behind that the house is ultimately ruined. Turning off the spigot is the key to success at this juncture in time... especially so since we've let it get out of control in the first place. We're too far behind for the mop to solve the problem. So what to do? Exercise our brains and move immediately to do what it takes to eliminate plastics that have a viable replacement. Prime example? Food or water in the form of liquids stored in bottles. We don't need water bottles, soda bottles or juice bottles. All of those things can be installed into aluminum cans or bottles. Why don't we do that now? Because it costs a few cents more per container for aluminum. That's the only real reason why. Of course the true cost is far higher... due to cleanup costs and the cost to the environment. So, the reality is that we're not actually saving a few cents per container, it's costing a few MORE cents per container over the long run. Or worse. Real answers start with each of us by not buying products sold in plastic bottles or containers. Find an alternative. Practice it in your own life and encourage others to do the same... and do what you can to encourage those that makes laws in your country to pass legislation to eliminate the plastics from production that don't need to be produced and used. If enough people speak, it will usually get done. Granted, sometimes it takes the right people to speak or even be the ones with the power to pass the legislation needed to get it done... but unless we get on with the task of eliminating unnecessary plastics now, we're never going to get the spigot turned off and we'll choke on them. Real world plastics? I tend to immediately think of plastic jars, bottles and wrappings that were NOT used with food storage when I was a kid. I previously mentioned liquids. Also, I'm old enough to remember when almost all food items were sold without plastic being involved. I remember when cereal was sold in waxed paper and a cardstock box. Milk? Glass bottles or waxed heavy card stock with a folded top - no metal or plastic. We could go back to those things... if we chose to. For now, we use a lot of plastic instead. Here's to hoping we do go back to some of the old ways, and move to the elimination of plastics. The actual solution. Peace & good vibes! - Max Giganteum

What happens to all the sanded and shaved material? Is there a way to process that back into products? I imagine the sanding creates a lot of plastic dust. Is there a way to keep that from entering back into the environment?

@@vowelagbure6749 Plastic can be cut with the same tools you use to cut wood - but you do have to be careful with heat buildup. Too much heat and the plastic can burn on the edges or even melt. I've watched a production line that was converting waste into solid bar stock (20+ foot lengths) which was then auto fed into a CNC controlled saw that cut the bar stock into short lengths for further processing into useable items on other machines. A water based cooling solution was used to prevent any heat buildup. It also had a slight lubricating quality to it as well. All the cuttings were recycled all over again into fresh bar stock. The screw and barrel setups were upwards of 8-10 inches in diameter. For those that don't know, that's a LOT of plastic capacity. You could make square bar stock 12" x 12" continuously on the large extruders though most of what was made was smaller than 4 inches per side. Yes, there was round stock as well. Typical stock was round, square and rectangular but they could extrude any shape based on the design of the die & receiver plates. Obviously, a high capacity production environment is vastly different than what was in the video but the basics are the same. The plastic doesn't concern itself with what environment it's in or what tools are being used. Best wishes! - Max Giganteum
