I have a mazda cx30 2023. Big textured fenders over the tires. Somebody scraped my passenger rear fender. I'm not sure if it was with their car or what, but it left a good 4-inch by 4-inch lightly scratched spot that is much lighter now than the rest of the fender. The scratches are not deep, I would say they are smooth to the touch. It only bothers me because it's a new car, and it stands out. Is it at all possible to get rid of the scratches since it is a textured painted plastic fender? The car is black, and the fenders are like charcoal black. It seems like even the finest sandpaper would make things worse. However, you're the expert. I would love some advice

In the US, I can't seem to find a similar product for either (1) Paint Gear kits, or (2) the Farecla G360 cutting compound (specifically, the SFC106 cutting compound). Do you have any recommendations for similar products in the US?
@cvrpov

Look for solvent based paint supplier. Any good cutting compound will do mate it doesn't have to be farecla. Maybe look at menzerna or something similar they do smaller bottles

Good however I’ve noticed a difference between a body shop person and a detailer , the detailer will make sure no polish residue goes in gaps and clean up a lot better , the parking sensors is full of polish residue and all body shops don’t care about things like that
@cvrpov
@cvrpov 2 жыл бұрын
Firstly, thanks for the sub and watching my content. This is more a bodywork channel so my content will be more based on that. I was actually a valeter then a detailer for nearly 10 years before learning to spray and do more advanced work. Having done both.. you put that much time and skill into the repair and refinish that by the end (flat and polish and minor bits ie senosrs/gaps) that you have probably ran out of time/patience and customer budget to be messing around with tooth picks etc. That car went straight from me round to a valeter to be cleaned up for re sale.
@M.E63
@M.E63 2 жыл бұрын
@@cvrpov fair enough but I was just saying there’s a difference , I had my new car which was just 3 weeks old when someone scraped the bumper and the body shop left polish residue in the sensors and other gaps , even scratched up one headlight and with a torch I could see lots of hazing and swirls where they painted the bumper . I been into detailing a couple of years and have everything , and now want to learn how to do small painting jobs as I never find a good painter so I guess I need to learn it myself , I got everything I need just need to practice

@M.E63
@M.E63 Жыл бұрын
@@shegzr7812 you obviously never read both of my comments I actually decided to do it myself as I took it to a pro a they messed it up, not only did they do a sloppy job but colour match was horrible , scratched up my headlight and this is a brand new high end car, the rubber around the parking sensors had paint on them, polish residue in the gaps, and more issues , this pro had not one bad review on google, the paint shop I get my stuff from recommended him and this guy was working on high end cars as I seen it with my own eyes, I’m sick and tired of pros doing things wrong then when you point it out they don’t want to know so that’s why I made the decision to learn it myself, I actually detail cars so I know about detailing and I decided to learn the paint side and that’s why I was watching the videos and this, even a pro was a amateur before like me, your going on as if a pro is born a pro so we must leave it to them, this is not the first time a tradesman done bad jobs and poor customer service and that’s why I resort to learning the stuff myself

Great content as always. Some advice would be appreciated. I keep getting paint reactions around the edge off my primed area when spraying base coat silver (solvent based) very frustrating . Many thanks
@cvrpov
@cvrpov 2 жыл бұрын
Try putting a lighter 1st and 2nd coat. One of the biggest mistakes people make is a too heavy coat. Maybe even dry the area with a heat gun as ur applying it to dry the solvents quicker. If some reactions occurs then dry thoroughly and some dry 600 paper over the edges to try and feather out... always dry coats
