Did you have to drain the oil before removing the timing cover? 😊

😅 I'm laughing because I've seen that exact same lack of divider plate! 20 something years ago I bought a 73 Formula 400 in Tucson and drove it back home. I spent the next few months fighting with very marginal cooling performance. Previous owner had replaced the pump months before I bought it, so I went after everything else, like radiator, fan, & tstat. Finally, I pulled the pump to find NO DIVIDER PLATE. I'm guessing the previous owner returned the plate attached to the core. I see you have a 70's accessory setup for alternator, etc. Although not resto correct, I like it SOOOO much better than the 67 setup. I run a later 70's style 11 bolt pump/timing cover, but still use the 67 alternator/ps pump brackets with a deeper water pump pulley to keep the belts aligned. The 70's setup was engineered much better. Your channel has reconnected me with my bird. Well done.

I see doing all this in my near future, as well, on the installed 350. And I need to get two broken studs off my 400, too.

Never knew that pontiac had a 2 piece water pump, so used to chevy being a one piece. Lot's of work when things get rusty and old.

Good work. Isn’t that a broken stud for the timing cover? One on each side.

That broken bolt should actually be a stud and a nut, suprised to see the pump divider plate missing.

I’m in SanTan Valley and I’m getting ready to change the water pump (and many other items) on my 69 Judge. Where is the best place to get parts around here?

Did you refit the old water pump temporarily just to help seat the top portion of the timing cover?

You didn't have to remove the timing cover and remove those tubes. The rubber "O" rings in them are replaceable. Just take a ice pick or similar tool are remove the rubber rings.
