Knowledge is power. Thanks for showing the proper way to remove the lines. Most fittings under the hood these days are designed to be broken by mechanics that just don't know how to remove them; let alone the DIY's. And dealers won't just sell you the clips, they'll want to sell you the whole enchilada. Thanks to you and KZbin !

I almost wasted a hundred bucks on a fuel line disconnect tool set, but even the guys selling those won't put up a simple video telling how their tool functions. I almost broke my clip, but I ended up leaving it connected and just swinging the intake to the side to get the job done, but it's been bugging me ever since! Thanks for the information. I did already order a box of those clips anticipating problems the next time, but the strange thing is, that the clips in question here are listed on the box for GM and Ford, yet I'm working on a 2015 Jeep 3.6 Liter V6 and it has those very clips.

Hey, I just happened to think. I did go online looking for the clips and I had found the ones on amazon that you had listed also. So I got those ordered for next time in case I need them. That first clip that came off, though, I never really found a source for those, and I just worry about dropping one of those and losing it, so if you know a source for those, I'd appreciate finding out. Could probably do without it I guess, if it came to that.

Exactly what happened to me with our ‘19 Chrysler Pacifica when I had to replace its Oil Cooler. Imo these Dodge/Chrysler clips are rather counterintuitive as they defeat the purpose of an “easy to remove clip”.. Even when applying pressure in the right area of the clip they still won’t come out and/or sometimes break. These clips are in fuel lines, vacuum lines, injectors, EGR pipe, etc.. Thank you for the zip tie tip at the end of the video, I didn’t know that!

OMG, those devious bastards! Just when you think you have mastered every disconnect, (fluid, electrical), they come up with this! It would be neat if they included instruction on their disconnects in the manual or better yet,how about a couple of samples.
@christopherkidwell9817 Жыл бұрын
The problem is that these 'quick connects' are usually in a horrible position to 'push down' on them further when on the vehicle itself. So the better mechanism would be "Go back to the stuff that worked before!" and phase out these quick connects.

Ah, but the lowest skill worker on the assembly line can put it on quickly, even with a blindfold. That is the key.

Wow. Ford made that pretty common knowledge years ago. I didnt realize people were breaking these. All spring clip fittings have to be pushed in to release. All of the tools used to release every other fitting has you push the tool in and push down on the fitting then pull off. Amazing what one views as common knowledge isnt so common. Explains all the zipties I find to replace the clip.

Another thing i do is spray penetrating lube on all quick release clips. That helps with tough & dirty clips. Works like a charm
@johndoe-xy4xq Жыл бұрын
I do that too. Makes it so much easier. I use it on those 4 wheeler clips that hold the plastic trim on the fenders,
@michaelbenoit248 Жыл бұрын
Except that penetrating lube will degrade the plastic. Just don’t. Use some soapy water on em if u need some lube w plastic don’t use petrochemical stuff on it.
