The same thing is waiting for me in my Lancia Thesis in spring 👍

Not all cars in Germany rust. It depends on the local climate. Usually where there is a lot of salt on the roads they do. In the Rhineland (Cologne) area cars usually don't have any rust. Espescially city cars. But just around the corner at slightly higher elevations they are often very bad. I only noticed this when I started to buy cars from outside my area. So for anyone buying cars in Germany keep that in mind. Cheers!

I meant all German cars that come to Portugal. Thanks for watching
@uranusneptun52392 ай бұрын
@@alfaromeonoproblem It wasn't criticism towards you. I'm sorry. I just wanted people to know in case they want to buy cars from Germany.
@alfaromeonoproblem2 ай бұрын
@uranusneptun5239 don't worry, I understand. Problem is most cars still come to Portugal trough an importer and they will not choose better cars, they do not care. They will choose the ones that make them the most profit. Normally the rusty ones.
@uranusneptun52392 ай бұрын
@@alfaromeonoproblem Oh OK good I understand. I didn't know they were also exporting to EU countries (usually it's Africa). Sad thing is that many sellers only give those bad cars away for "export". Many enthusiasts would love to rescue them.

1:05:30 I'll be doing the same exact thing on my 164 Q4 next saturday, don't have that extra bolt on the back and the centering pin but basically same architetture.🤞

Hello. Yes, it is very very similar! Hope it goes well

Not one single comment so far about the (complete) lack of health and safety in this video. As I’m typing, I’ve also noticed the sandals…totally shocking! T. Helmersson @ ACD Automotive Services (UK.)

Nice little restoration, use of the palette was a nice idea. I saw the same car same spec in black for sale in germany months ago and it cost 3000 Euro but it was in perfect condition. I hope the buyer didnt pay to much. Question: Can you remove AC lines without emptying first?
@alfaromeonoproblem2 ай бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching! I do not know how much it cost, but the customer did want to spend the necessary to male it excellent. The AC lines were empty when the car got here, I did repair the leak actually

@@alfaromeonoproblem Thanks for answering. So should I empty the AC lines?

Imho it is more easy to remove the motor upwards! You just don't have to dismantle so much and the gearbox can be placed easily sideway on the engine frame...
@alfaromeonoproblem2 ай бұрын
I've did that on the channel already. For me is not so easy

Really handy video seeing as I’ll be dropping my busso and zf 4 speed out of my 166 next year at some point. My problem is I believe the bearing on the left side of the transmission housing is soinning inside the casing. They sell and oversize bearing in Australia. So here’s hoping that is the issue I can hear. Are zf rebuild kits available for the zf 4hp? I was also going to do the cam belts with engine out. I’m thinking I should at least inspect the starter motor while it’s all out too.
@alfaromeonoproblem2 ай бұрын
Hello. Taking out everything like this is a big advantage! Check everything while you are there! The starter will have to come out eventually because of the gearbox. So make sure to do a service on it or a new one
@AdamAus852 ай бұрын
@@alfaromeonoproblem Hopefully the starter can be rebuilt like you rebuilt that ac compressor. My 166 has 300 000km and it doesn't start very quickly, so might be worth a rebuild/replacement. Thanks mate

@alfaromeonoproblem BTW, a few days ago I lost 2nd, 4th and 6th gear on my 159. It happened 2-3km from that horrible dealer. But I had no choise, I had to drive in 1st and 3rd to them. One of the boots for the cable had broke and the cable was no longer held in the possition (in the engine compartment). Nobody has a new cabel, they had to order it from Italy. But I don't care about that. They have absolutelly destroyed the leather on my gear knob! They tried to pull it out by force using some abrasive gloves probabaly. Absolute scum. 😡 The new original, on heavy discout, is 120 uk quid (with postage). After this is done, I am not giving anyone to even touch my car from now on.
@alfaromeonoproblem2 ай бұрын
@DashCamSerbia I use the bottle yes, but I began by pouring half In to a empty only, and then fill up both with distilled water .

Stuck crank nut is pretty much standard up here in the North. Also stuck crank pulley and cam pulleys. For the crank nut and the pulley, the problem is often that someone (most garges) uses an impact gun to torque it up after a cam belt change. With our climate, that is a recipe for disaster. If you tourque the crank nut to the specified 210-240 nm and add a little bit of copperslip to the shaft for the crank pulley during assembly, there should be no problem using an impact gun to remove the nut and pulley after 3-5 years, - even with our climate.
