This is an easy way to make a lighter where anybody can use it. Old people can use it, your wife can use it, it just makes it more user friendly.

I pressed the button down for 30 seconds while applying Super Glue. It fixed the problem that fast, no tools, no removing any pieces.

I have always hated the safety button on these lighters but due to nerve damage in my left hand I can no longer operate the safety and pull the trigger. I decided to disable it by driving a #4 x3/8” screw above the button while depressing it with my thumb. The hot glue probably works just as well. And clearly removing the button is also an option. I just thought I would mention another option that works on the Bic. (No children in the house and the lighter is also stored out of reach just to be safe.)

This doesn't work for the type of safety switches that you have to "roll".

Yeah too complicated …the Bic lighter is so much easier to disable safety

Very nice! But, a big but, what if I am strolling through a very dry forest of pines, and I am clicking away with my simplified magic fire stick, hypnotized by the flame, now so easy to use that I don't need to worry about the tendons in my hand becoming locked up in the effort to slide the childproof latch and pull the trigger while sticking out my tongue just a little, which is proportional to the effort I need to use in coordinating the two performances, and lost in wonder I spark the flame under a brittle tree branch so that the forest burns up with me in it? And where did you ask me about my pronouns? Charcoal Boy! Never mind the pronouns. Sounds a bit complicated. In the words of P Harvey... Good Day!
