Thank you for the video. Because family stored frozen food in the ice cube dump tray it broke the plastic clip when the freezer draw was forcefully closed. Even though the clip broke I was able to fashion a paperclip through the holes in each plastic connector to secure the sensor unit in place. I'll probably order a replacement tray but for now I have ice again.

Thanks for the video.... I had an Issue with the sensor that made my icemaker turn to far & the ice tray got stuck in a twisted position on a tab on the opposite end where the tray pivots... weird how it happened but pretty easy fix thanks to ur video 👍👍👍

If you want to save time & guesswork go to the Samsung website, punch in your model number and you’ll be able to order the accurate parts for your refrigerator. I have ordered plenty of parts from there and it’s pretty straight forward and accurate, they even have shop drawings with part numbers for future references.

My lower ice maker stopped making ice automatically months ago. It works fine when I press the test button so I know the water line is not frozen and the tray mechanism works fine and the sensor is in the correct configuration. It's not being signaled to dump the ice and make more. Is this a bad sensor that I need to replace?.

Great vid. Question, you mentioned that this is for a sumsung refrigerator but the part you are installing is sankyo at about the 0:07 mark. Curious to know if these parts are one in the same. I am tring to replace the entire lower ice making unit on a Samsng RFG298AARS/XAA and having a heck of a time Id'ing the correct part. I do not have the old part we are replacing. Any thoughts?

Mike H These refrigerators and appliances are like cars. One may own a Chevy yet the water pump in the car is made by Bosch, which is considered original equipment by Chevy because it was specifically designed by Bosch for a specific Chevy model or in our case a Samsung refrigerator. Or someone may have an iPhone but the chip in their phone may be a QUALCOMM or an Intel. As long as you have the right model number and make you should be able to go to the Samsung parts website punch in that number and it should pop up right away. I stress Samsung parts.com because these guys have it together. I don’t like guessing when purchasing things through the Internet on eBay or Amazon even though they may be cheaper, because you run the risk of ordering the wrong part. The way that I eliminate this is by ordering straight from the source, Samsung itself, trust me it’s worth your time. It will save you a lot of time and stress. That if you don’t like your time to be wasted.

The lever arm that tells the unit to make or stop making ice broke on mine. If you look at minute 7:47 in your video, it looks like I should be able to remove the arm with a Philips head screwdriver and put a new one on. Samsung parts says that arm cannot be bought separately and I have to buy the entire icemaker. Seems a little drastic (and crappy design for sure). Thoughts?

Thank you! I don't care about ice but having icemaker bits dangling by wires in the freezer wasn't safe. I've fixed this. My icemaker arm broke, by the way, despite never have been used. Samsung quality - I expect shti like this at this point in my fridge ownership.

Go to Samsung parts.com it may be a little more expensive but it will save you a lot of time because they have diagrams that show you where your part may be located and if you have the part number you can just put it in the system and it should show up right away.

Maybe your hose has disconnected itself or if you recently replaced your water filter perhaps it wasn't inserted fully.

Yes, that’s correct, if you remove that screw you will be able to replace that lever.

@@bteuscher6680 It is supposed to measure how much ice fills into the ice bucket. The arm sticks down and as the ice cubes increase the arm gets pushed up until the arm will shut down ice production so you don't have an overflow of ice cubes.

my samsung refrigerator rfg298hdrs/xaa has dual icemakers. just started flashing 8e and 39e i reset panel but both icemakers quit making ice. i unplugged and plugged back in. bottom icemaker i can press the reset button and it dumps ice cubes but will only do so when i press the reset button. Top ice maker does nothing when i press the reset button but if i press the lever on the outside of the door i do here the thing turning that pushes the ice to the front. please help

You could first check if it’s been turned off on the control panel on the front of the fridge. 2nd you might have a blocked waterline or frozen waterline. 3rd check to see if someone turned the waterline off underneath your sink going to your refrigerator.

So if the ice is coming up to high so when you pull open the ice bucket it scraps the ice cube tray and damages it, then isn't the shutoff arm not shutting the ice making unit off early enough so the ice bucket doesn't over fill and cause problems?

@ lphil6. On the front Control panel on the face of the fridge on the right lower corner above the ice and water dispenser. You have to press and hold the ice button for 3 seconds, the charm should ring. Once you hear the charm ring, press the button again once to select the top ice maker and twice to select the bottom icemaker and that should turn it off.

Has anyone use their RO and have the bottom ice maker make clearer ice cubes but the wall ice maker the cloudy. Is there something in the back to switch over, where the water from the RO not going to the wall ice maker?

Not sure if this answers your question but the appearance of the ice has to do with the speed at which the cubes are produced. Top one makes ice faster, the process cause more air in the ice and therefore cloudy. This is actually explained in the manual for the unit.
