I've owned a 91 LS400 for the last 11 years and all that territory under the car is very familiar to me. You are lucky that the underside of your car is as rust free and clean as can be, as is mine. Makes turning wrenches much easier. I also changed the steering rack bushings while I was in there. That electrical motor is part of the speed sensitive steering. Lastly, the steering damper can be replaced with a Mercedes part if slightly modified, which can save your a few hundred $$$ vs buying OG Lexus part. Nice work, great video.

Thank you so much bro! the process is a little different on the GS400 a lot less space to work, but still the same process to where this helped me figure it out. Even the official Toyota TIS system instructions were so vague I wasn't comfortable proceeding. Feels good to get this shit done finally lol

About to pick up a 2000 ls 400 for about 2k, I hear a lot of good things about them. Needs a new power steering pump and alternator. Just wanted to ask if this a a solid investment? I already know it’s a solid price for it. Anything else I should look out for on it?

I’ve had my LS400 rack and pinion replaced but the guy who put it for me left the steering wheel at an angle. How do i go on about fixing that, do i just take it apart set the steering wheel straight and put it back on?
@LetsDriftMedia
@LetsDriftMedia 3 ай бұрын
If it drives straight I would set it where the wheels are straight forward then disconnect the rack n pinion from the steering shaft joint and straighten the steering wheel then reinstall. Rec to get an alignment after any steering component replacement.

@@LetsDriftMedia Yeah, I need to have a proper look once the car's up. One of those cases where fixing a minor dripping at an easy spot has trickled down to a more and more serious leak somewhere down the line, and finally a heavy rain of ATF at the toughest possible spot lol...

@LetsDriftMedia

Do you have it at the right angle? If I remember correctly the splines on the rack have a cut out on it for the screw to go through the female side coming from the steering column so it has to match the same angle.
