This was brilliant! SO glad you were so thorough! Did a similar job on a 2001 Ford Escort years ago (Mazda engine). I am no mechanic, but I can follow directions and have the patience of a Saint! It'll be one less thing my husband will have to fix (he works long hours at ball busting work). Will get the timing tool set before I start taking her apart. Thanks for a great video!

i just did this on my Zetec, and amazingly nobody showed in any video to grab that camshaft mount with a 1" key, they all say to grab the middle with a 15/16 which is so hard to do, barely any flat spots, so i ended up using a vise grip lol

Great job. Make sure to use a Motorcraft tensioner made specifically for the SVT. The tensioner is set at 2lbs of pressure. The Gates and other aftermarket tensioners are only 1lb.

I need a timing cover, timing chains replaced on my 1994 SL1. Watching the video, I can see it takes time but most mechanics should be able to do right? Can those parts, if bad, cause problems with oil/anti-freeze areas to leak?

All the parts you replaced - along with the timing belt itself - (i.e., water pump, etc.),; is that standard operating procedure that should pretty much always be followed, whether parts seem okay or not (i.e., water pump) - or was there also a problem already, with that water pump? ALSO, would procedure be same for a 2010 Ford Focus SE Sedan 4D and were you just doing this video for educational purposes, or do you have an actual garage where you do this as a business and if so, where are you located, and what was the overall bill total for this job that you so greatly executed? Does the Regular Ford Focus 2.0 DOHC Zetec 16 valves has timing marks? After you put the metal bar do you have to lock the camshaft Sprockets to? sorry I'm asking a lot but I want to replace my belt, it has not broken yet but its been there for a while now and I want to replace it before it brakes. Jorge Uribe The non SVT Zetec is very much similar to this, you need the tools to lock the cams and crank at top dead center. The zetecs are less picky due to the lack of variable cam timing like the SVT. I did the belt on my old zetec. If possible do like he did and only loosen the sprockets if needed ( took me forever to loosen the exhaust cam because the dumb torx bolt rounds out) try the videos method first. Otherwise pretty straight forward

Depends in the car..they are all different..but basically there are Mark's on the sprockets to line up..or in this case, I outlined what you need to do

I believe the sprockets have to be loosened because of the vvtc cam. When you manually turn the intake came to fit the alignment tool, you are turning the intake cam independent of the intake sprocket. Loosening the sprocket aligns the intake cam without advancing the vvtc.
