How to Replace CCV Valve on BMW N52 with Plastic Valve Cover

This video will show you the methods I used to replace the CCV / CVV / PCV Valve on a BMW N52 engine with the plastic valve cover. I apologise for not filming it all, but it's difficult to film with one hand and work with the other! Hopefully it gives you enough of an overview so that you can tackle this job yourself with the valvecover still on the engine and avoid having to either remove the valvecover or replace it. I did move the ignition coils and ignition harness out of the way to free up some space to work around the CCV.
I used Gorilla Fix All High Tack as the sealant, it may not be perfect but it did work and the engine now runs fine.
I used a cheap aftermarket CCV Valve which you will find in all the usual places like Amazon, Ebay, Aliexpress etc.

Want to do the same on mine because it seems to be burning oil. Not other significant symptoms. No visible leaks around the engine, so I will go for replacing it. I hope this cheap valve will last long. Is it still working well for you?

Was this causing a whistling sound? And what kind of sealent u used?

Yes it was. I believe it was Gorilla FixAll high tack

Hey may have to do this soon on my car. Have to test the valve with a vacuum bleeder. How did you know this was an issue on the car? Did you happen to get any codes like p0171 and p0174? Thanks!

Symptoms were a loud whistle, rough idle, and engine codes although I can't remember which ones.

@@HeroRepairs thanks for the quick reply. Did a smoke test and I really didn’t see anything come out from anywhere. I hear some whistling from the general area near the valve. I also just took the oil cap off at idle. It did change a bit but then it normalized. Also there was a decent amount of vacuum on my hand. Sorry for the ramble. Thanks again!

Engine codes come up as timing retarted on exaust camshaft reference I did this procedure code disappeared instantly

I read that the spring does close it when it’s resting (the vehicle is off I’m guessing) And it opens when the car is running so would it make a difference ? I’m asking bc I already installed it and saw the spring was on my work bench
