I had to remove the heat shield (4 screws) in order to expand the opening of the air filter housing. (2004 A4 1.8t Quattro wagon)

My '08 Audi A4 (B7) is missing the intake duct/manifold so the air is being sucked from the engine compartment. Is this a problem?

Just to clarify, the air box is there it just doesn't have the intake duct going to the grill.

Incidentally guys,a study was undertaken at university to see difference between some oem paper filers and k&n filters. The paper filters pulled way more Air than the k&n filter. In short,k&n are crap. There were 2 filters that did however get more air,one was bnc and other was pipercross. Just letting yas know,in case you're thinking of replacing with k&n
