FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE CONFUSED ABOUT THE LACK OF AN A/C BUTTON: There is no A/C button because it’s an automatic climate control. It’s more advanced than a regular A/C system. By default, the A/C is on. To turn it off, simply activate the “ECON” button. This disables the A/C compressor. The reason the button is called “ECON” is because when the a/c Compressor is turned off, the fuel economy is better. This is because the engine needs extra power to pull the A/C compressor. There’s a difference between A/C and Climate control. A/C is not necessarily a climate control system, but climate control system always has A/C.

Sometimes these climate controls can be pretty intimidating. I’m glad there’s an automatic feature on this one. For a long time that’s about all I did was set it and forget it. But it is important to go beyond that when you need defog, and other features. Glad you’re from and the video useful.

If you still have it, you can buy a sticker pack for your specific car and model on e-bay. That's what I did on my A4 b6. They fit perfectly and you can hardly tell it's a sticker. They're pretty cheap as well.

All you do is adjust the temperature to low or a desired temp like 72°F (68°/67°F is the coldest, 80°F highest) & that's how a/c is ran. There's no "A/C button, just adjust the temp & you're good!

Econ mode disables the a/c compressor, if it is on all the time and won't turn off then it is indication of a fault. When she pressed the front demister button, the econ light should have gone off as it uses the a/c dry incoming air (even in winter). I suspect the light came on shortly after start up and that her a/c needs recharging.

If you're here to find out how to turn your AC on: You must have it on low! If it is not cold try to recharge the system. (Auto store $15) If that does not work or it overfills your air conditioning unit is most likely broken and needs service.

Econ is kind of like just opening up a window in the car. This feature deactivates the compressors ability to cool the air. If the air outside is cool it will allow that air to cool off the inside of the car without opening a window. I would say overall it’s not A very practical feature

If the ECON light is on, the AC is off. For example if you want fresh cool air from outside the car, you set the temp as low as it goes but don't want the AC to freeze you, just press the econ button and you only get the outside temp air without Ac.

Turn the temperature on both sides up to 80°F/Max. This is a dual system so temp can be controlled differently on each side. There's no switch for a/c, adjust temp like LOW or 70°F. (There's no a/c switch like most american cars have, simply adjust temp for a/c & heat. The +/- sign in the middle below the fan screen is how to turn the heat/a/c on/off. Simply press the + to turn on. Continue to press + for desired fan speed/blow rate. To turn off, in audis like mine, that have no off switch like this video, continuously press the - button, until the fan speed screen turns off. Surprised the OP didn't explain that. Might upload a video to explain it better.

Ok so what about presetting the Auto? What about the Econ? Or simply how to turn on/off the a/c & heat. If you didn't know, not allnof the Audis have an OFF switch like mine, & I have an Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T 2002 Base model. Thankfully I already know all the functions. Not all buttons were explained. Very misleading video. Should be titled "Some Button Controls".
