is doing the front brakes the same as the rear ones?
@Garyjorges792 жыл бұрын
Nope.. This model had drums brakes.. Some did have an option for rear Disc Brakes.

You got to take the brake reservoir cap off so you can push the caliper in or else you will force it to come back out again.
@Garyjorges792 жыл бұрын
The fluid just gets pushed out of the Reservoir. I never took the cap off(unless bleeding the system)The Piston never comes back.. Try it once.. I've been doing it for 25 years. We all Learn something everyday👍

@@allanpizarro984 No..As long as you didn't loosen any bleeders or lines. Just pump brake pedal hard before you start the car.
@MrCuckoobox3 жыл бұрын
I know you that there is a lot of salt put on the roads in MN which causes rust but, I would not be using JB 80 and Lucas x heavy grease. Those are petroleum based products and they attack rubber aka the dust boot and the brake piston seal. If that dust seal is working properly no "lube" should be needed. If you had to use a "Lube", Silicon Spray would be a much better choice because it is more rubber friendly and also helps water keep water out. You should also be using a Brake Grease because that is "Silicon" based and not petroleum based which again attacks the rubber which causes it to degrade faster and may cause it to swell, it also stays thick even at high temps. JB 80 could cause the brake piston seal to swell causing issues with the piston not moving properly - not releasing the pads - dragging or not full engaging the pads.
@Garyjorges793 жыл бұрын
Yeah.. We been doing this for decades..Maybe not recommended..But I Like it. I useallly have caliper grease just for brakes. I use JB-80 on alot of stuff. $12 a can. better than wd-40 or knocker loose. Alot of people don't even oil piston calipers. Most parts are from China anyways. People don't even rebuild calipers anymore like the old days. Just throw new parts at cars. We used to totally rebuild the calipers and line Brake shoes.. The good O' Days. Thanks for watching and advise👍

I think some rotors have two screws that need to be removed before trying to remove rotor. If they are still there ! - just a thought.

@typhoon320i4 жыл бұрын
I would think you don't want to get grease on the threads of the slide pins. Because when you tighten them, your torque will be higher than spec. Also you don't want to put oil on the wheel studs. Same reason.
@Garyjorges794 жыл бұрын
I've been doing it for 25 years..Never had an issue..Alot of people don't even grease anything up..And I know that not a good thing.. Thanks for watching
@typhoon320i4 жыл бұрын
@@Garyjorges79 well....when you say "never had an issue"....for example: you could have oiled wheel studs and that causes the torque to be uneven on the lugs and that causes the rotor to warp over time and there WAS a problem, it was just not clear at the time what the cause was. Sometimes there are issues that nobody cares, or tries to figure out what the cause originally was. (I'm just mentioning what they teach in schools)
