I have a 2008 troy-bilt 575ss, was running great 'till would turn off like running out of fuel and had to prime it to start, never changed the fuel lines, trying to look in the net if anybody was having problems like mine, so just by chance I bent a little bit my intake fuel line and found a substantial leak, very happy to have found it and thank you for showing how to change it.

Hi. Please can you tell me why you have you got a connector in the line instead of just using a single line?

Do you think the line was short because while using the trimmer it would rest on the bottom? I understand you went the whole length of the tank but I do understand why it was short too. It was just my observation. Thanks for the video.
@carlodonnell146 Жыл бұрын
Can the line also be too close to the bottom of the tank?
@Lisa-v7x7j7 ай бұрын
I do appreciate everything you showed, but unfortunately I had to replace both lines and was already broken off at the carb and primer . I'm not sure which connection is correct.
@helpinguonline7 ай бұрын
Typically the connection furthest away from the primer bulb connects to the line that goes to the fuel filter (The supply line). If you hook it up backwards you will see that the primer bulb does not fill and you can reverse the lines

It would appear to me that the cheap Chinese carburetor kits I purchase always order only come with whatever hose size they bother to give me
@Alwaysbmoving3 ай бұрын
Hey so I bought a trimmer off marketplace. It’s leaking gas out where one of the hoses come out of the fuel tank. Not the one with the filter, the other one. There isn’t any sort of gasket. The hose looks new otherwise. It just leaks out that spot.
@helpinguonline3 ай бұрын
Sounds like you’ve got the wrong size hose for the return line. Go to the next size up so it’s a tight fit and it should stop leaking

Can a frayed return pipe cause a strimmer to cut out?
@helpinguonline8 ай бұрын
It shouldn’t cause that
@Jamesk69417 ай бұрын
So one line should be short and one line should be long? The lines that i installed are both going to the bottom. My engine wont start.
@archieblevins8332 жыл бұрын
You connected the fuel line to a black connector that is connected to a line that’s connected to the carburetor line. I found a black two end connector at the bottom of my fuel tank( Craftsman 25cc b2000 2cycle) and was trying to figure out where it came from. Now I see where it goes. My blower is I’ll not prime

I tried to change a line recently and it was difficult to pull through the hole and to replace the new one too; so I cut the old one and I drilled the hole a little bigger, and I will put some epoxy on it to stop leaks. When the line is pulled through the small hole it seems to me that it will choke it and stop the gas from passing.
@helpinguonline Жыл бұрын
It should be a very tight fit where the light goes into the tank so you do not get leaks. That’s the way they designed that. The return line just needs to be able to drain back into the tank and doesn’t have anything to do with how much fuel is in your tank or not. All that does is pull fuel through the carburetor to primer and then dumps the primed fuel back inTo the tank so it’s not spilled out.

I often wonder if the return line should be in the gasoline, but when the gasoline gets low it won't be, so maybe that is the answer, but when the tank is full, does it cause a problem or should the tank not be filled to cover the return line? There are always more questions than answers!!!
@helpinguonline Жыл бұрын
All that line does is return the fuel back to the tank after pumped through the carburetor. It doesn’t matter if your tank is full or half full or near empty

I replaced mine. Even though my lines went in super tight, they leak gas. Any tips?
@helpinguonline Жыл бұрын
If you have a tight connection at the carburetor and tight fit into the gas tank your leak may be coming from the carburetor or a leaky tank crack or something?...

I think I might be able to do that

My craftsman blower was working then it stop working I took the spark plug out it was black so I change it I try to started no start
@helpinguonlineАй бұрын
You might have a deeper issue. I would check for spark since it was working and then quit and if you have spark then check for fuel issues. Lots of videos out there to show you how
@JoseHernandez-kf2vu Жыл бұрын
I think it only went half way because when being used the tank is sideways making the lowest point be half way curve on the tank.

My weedeater is exactly the same. I did exactly the same thing, and it ran for a while until the gas was below my primary line. I know they’re not reversed.

You cut out the hardest part - getting the line through the hole in the tank!
@carlodonnell146 Жыл бұрын
yes I did not remember this when I was doing it recently, but you need to cut the tube at an angle or point so that it will pass through the hole easy and then pull it to length and cut it square before installing the filter; but I drilled the hole a little bigger and put epoxy to prevent leaks later. The next time I have to do one I will try cutting it at the angle, I see tecs doing it, it is just to remember; I don't do it everyday like they do.

tubing sizes vary. I keep a packet of the 4 basic sizes in my shop in a zip lock bag. Not very expensive when ordered online.
