Thanks. short, sweet and told me all I needed. I've done some basic stuff on my friends 07 impala. She's older and I try and help her out. Last time I changed her oil I looked at those lines and thought " that's a leak waiting to happen". She lost a lot of fluid in the 100 yards or so to her house. Now after seeing how easy you removed the first tube I see why. What a cheap ass design. Great work on the video.

Good video. I used a 3/4 inch flange wrench the first time. Using the socket is a better idea - especially for the one that is nearly vertical. These connectors are aluminum and can be easily rounded off. And - yes, put the clips on the connector, then push the tube in. The clips are the hardest part of this procedure.

Do you need to drain the transmission fluid before replacing the quick disconnects. Will it leak a bunch out of the disconnect holes when you take them out?

No, you do not have to drain the transmission fluid out. Fluid only runs through those lines when the engine is running. Whatever leaks out will just be whatever residual there is in the lines and in the cooler.

@@LehewTech BUT - that could equal about 2 quarts. It was just dribbling out when I stopped. I put a bucket under the the drip and came back to it in the morning. There were 2 quarts in the bucket and maybe another pint on the driveway. If you do it quickly as the video shows, then you may not even have to top the fluid off.

So I have a 2009 and tts fittings are goo my issue is why or what would cause trans leak from up inside the trans between the motor and trans housing leaking down onto everything

I wonder if a metric o-ring out of my cheap kit would do the trick? The fittings are probably cheap anyway

O-ring wont work.. the fittings are very cheap

That's actually a really good question and no, you don't have to drain the fluid to do this repair

If enough fluid leaked out it could make your transmission slip under acceleration.

That big glob of silicone in the new fitting scares me. I would be very concerned it would plug the line.

It's not a silicone that dries like rtv silicone. It's there to help with installing the line. I had the same concern you did and I asked a guy who rebuilds transmissions

Skeered Shiatless..it aint gonna plug anything once the 280' degree transfluid flows through it. That what the filter kit is for.
