Good video, thanks. One note: if you lift whole front end using jacking point under the engine, it'll be easy to turn front wheels to get much better access to the caliper bolts, also no need to move the jack around for the other side.

Great job ! I'm replacing my front brake pads tomorrow! I just replaced my rear brake pads todays and I found out that the rear left pads don't have any sensor whatsoever :/ , I called Beverly Hills Benz today and they said it is odd that there wasn't none. The rear right brake has the pad sensor but not the rear left. I e-mailed you and waiting for your kind respond . my vin # is WDDGF54X68072322, 2008 C300 Luxury model. It's normal. They may have them on the right side, so only a two total sensors on the car. That's also why brake replacement kits come with only two sensors versus four.
@glasser28195 жыл бұрын
these sensors are "nice to have" item for passenger cars. Benz engineers decided to use 1 sensor per axle.... the brakes wear being identical for Left to Right and different only Front to Rear.

Love the Zimmermann rotors, recently did the rears on my 2010 C300 4matic sport and they look great, except I went with the ATE pads and they seem to throw alot of dust. About to order everything for the fronts, going with Zimmermann rotors and the Ferodo pads. Brake dust isn't really a big issue with me since im always washing my car anyways, especially in winter living in MA to get the road salt off as much as possible.

Can you explain way you have 2 same rotors both are driver site??? now on passenger site you mounting rotor opposite way. Fins going wrong direction ????

So the older Mercedes’ models needed a reset from the computer before your car would start again. I’m hoping and assuming that’s not the same with a 2014?

Hey awesome video. I have two questions. One: will this be the same process for a 2010 c300 sport? And two: im using the oem mercedes pads from the dealer, they have some marks on them with arrows, how do i know which position or side they go on? Thanks!
@glasser28195 жыл бұрын
The F mark usually points to the Front. The pad with the attached piston hardware is the inside pad. Shit with Benz old fashioned semi-met hard brake pads is they chew the soft OEM discs and cover the front wheels with rusted dust. Other than than they *consistently* stop *well* without any noise. The newer pad style these days are soft "CERAMICS"... Zero Rust Dust! There are non-abrasive friction-only that simply HEAT UP the Discs to transform kinetic energy. Tip for hot brakes: change the pads near 3/4 worn to prevent high heat aging the pistons seals. After a hard stop, try to release your brakes to prevent creating a hot spot... warpage! ie. crawl forward to promote more even disc cooling -or use the E-brake because it uses a separate set of rear shoes 👍🏻

I have a 2011 Mercedes c300 4matic sport and the site says the zimmerman/akebono kit fits. I was just wondering if these zimmerman brakes are sized 295mm or 320mm. The local euro mechanics will charge me either 100 dollars or more or 100 dollars less depending on the size. Obviously i'm gonna buy the parts myself but i want to make sure it will fit directly... thanks

Did you take the cap off the master cylinder when you pushed the caliber piston back? Or did you leave the cap on the whole time? Thanks
@fcpeuro2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, typically you can leave the cap on, however you always want to check the fluid level first before doing a brake job. If the system is pretty full with low/worn brakes, it is recommended to extract a small amount out of the reservoir to allow for fluid to come back up while compressing the pistons.

What Kind of antiseize did you use for the hub?
@captanarchy28 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This video was very helpful, I was able to change pads and rotors this weekend by myself. I did NOT clean off the rotors as you said in your video, I did lube up the pad mounting brackets (my pads came with replacement clips) they didn't slide quite as freely as yours, I did not re-lube the caliper pins as they seemed to be well lubricated already. After driving to work for the first time (I did a short drive immediately after replacement), I noticed some smoking coming from the pads. Is this normal while breaking these in? Should I have cleaned my rotors in this case? One other question, after changing the pads I noticed brake fluid had dripped out onto the floor of the garage... I am thinking that when I compressed the calipers, the resevoir flooded. How could I have prevented that? and could that damage my brake lines?

How did you place the jack stands on the jack point behind the wheel? I can jack the car up no problem, but kinda confuse how to place the jack stand on the jack point? By the way, great Video buddy! Thank you for your info. Doing my breaks and rotors next week.

FCP Euro There is nothing in my manual, only the jacking points to change a wheel
@timb77752 жыл бұрын
@King of the West Midlands Because that's all Mercedes wants you doing to the car, they don't want you working on it. For the front use a floor jack underneath in middle, there's a jacking point. Then when raised place the jack stands at the two jacking locations. For the rear use the differential to jack it up and place the jack stands at the jacking locations.

2012 c300 sport. Drivers side door did not have a brake pad sensor. Passenger side did. The "check brake pad wear" message went away after changing the front pads and rotors. Is there supposed to be a sensor on the driver's side?
