I am doing this from memory I think the bolts went through the power steering reservoir and bolted to a power steering bracket. You should be able to see this in the video.

Hey, great video, however, I have the same motor you have, do you have the belt sizes or belt numbers from the parts store? I need both too. Plus I have to put a new or rebuild alternator on too, my alternator is shot!! I appreciate your help. Ashland Kentucky, Jamie Duncan.

Check the belts on your Mercruiser engine there should he part numbers on the flat part of the belt. My boat is in storage until May so I can't grab the part numbers. Hello and thanks for the info ! I’m currently changing both of my belts and have the same exact motor . My question for you is I recently replaced the alternator , but I didn’t change the belts which was not smart . Where did you get both your belts ? I heard you say that you initially got them from the dealership , but it was short ? Also do you have other videos on this boat ?

My first belt from the dealer was too long. I then hopped on Amazon and found the correct belt. It was a little trial and error on my 1989 Sea Ray. Check the belts on your motor, there should be a part number on them in white that you can match up.

Great video thank you I just got a boat with this very engine. After removing the belt from alternator is it to complicated to remove the alternator completely? Mine is making to much Volts I need to fix this problem

I do not think so. There should only be a couple of bolts holding the alternator in place.

my Maxum got the same engine. I am having couple issues if you could help with. 1. The engine will stall when shifting to reverse. Not every time, but most of the time. 2. the belt is making some squicking noise when driving, the power sterling belt is not very loose but can be turn about 85 degrees. Wondering if that's caused the problem? Thanks

The stalling might be anything from a bad fuel filter to a possible stiff lower cable causing the intermediate switch to hang up which can cause the engine to stall when going from neutral to a gear.

Geese I forget however the part numbers should be right on your belts, that is how I matched up the replacement belts on my Mercruise 4.3 boat engine. Hope this helps you out.

I have an eighty seven searay with a five point seven litre engine. How do you remove the power steering pulley?

Haven't worked on that particular motor. There should be a nut or something on the pully that holds it on.
