Great job! I'd like mention when using the torque wrench, extensions change the torque value. So the longer the extension, i would add a few lbs so you are hitting the req'd value.

Bro, I don’t own a Porsche but I still subscribed - your videos (including editing and lighting/clarity) for a DIY mechanic are pretty impressive. That said, you need to get yourself some more and better tools if you’re doing this type of work! I was shocked (pun intended) that you had to resort to a crescent wrench for some of the larger bolts. Again, your work and your ability to explain your work is impressive, but you need yourself a full line of open end wrenches, a good 3/8 flex head ratchet and smaller 3/8 torque wrench as well. Oh, and a Knipex pliers wrench (or Harbor Freight ICON knock off) can come in really handy as well. Btw, I see you’ve had to move a lot in your videos (CA>AZ>TX?) - do you do mechanical work for a living by chance?

Thanks for the kind words and feedback! I would love to have better tools, but it's hard to justify as I don't have much time to wrench anymore. I'm not a mechanic, but I sometimes play one on the weekends.

I would go with OEM parts - ZF/Meyle. They certainly won’t last as long a Porsche stamped genuine parts but these would cost 50 to 75% lesser. But as for mounts - do go for genuine Porsche mounts.

I generally agree. For the rear mounts, I actually think the Hamberg-Techniq isolator material is more durable than the genuine porsche ones.

count the threads on the other side to torque the strut nut on reassembly since you cant torque.

Excellent video, thanks! I want to replace my rear coffin arms this summer. In your experience, which control arms on the rears are the most likely to deteriorate first? I want to have all the parts on hand before I dive in, but not sure what I'll need. It is kind of hard to tell the condition of the bushings when it is all on the car. 96,000 miles on the OE suspension and no rattles, but I have a tendency to be proactive! Thanks, -Tom.

Coffin arms take a lot of the abuse as well as the bushings in the hub.

Did the driving improve? Noise went away?

How much time did it take you to do the job? my local shop quoted me $4700 parts and labor with shocks!?!?!
@CarFanatic Жыл бұрын
After doing one side, I was able to get the other side in and out in about 2 hours. If I were to do it again, it would probably be a 5-6 hour job.

Why not just replace the struts as well? Assume they are still good? What is the expected life in terms of miles? Thanks for all the helpful videos!

If you only wanted to change the isolator, why disassemble the entire unit?

Sorry to disappoint! I wish my c2s was a widebody model. I should stop spending money on my car and just upgrade to the perfect spec 997 GTS, but those are very hard to find these days.

😂 No disappointment! And I definitely regret not grabbing a 4GTS when they were in the $70’s
