Thanks for showing how this is done. Let me advise you that people watch for the info, not for a rock concert!

I own a 2001 nissan frontier. I'm going to reference this video when I replace my high pressure line. Should work out the same I think. thanks for posting this.

+KingsKatt21 Thank you for your comment. I was told Frontier and Xterra have the same engine, but Best way to go is compare the engine in my video with your engine. It is a very easy job, I'm not a Mechanic and it took me about 1 hour to get it done. Good Luck!!!

When taking loose the 24mm head bolt that holds the banjo fitting you may need to hold the nut under the fitting with a wrench.

Did it stop the leak? Do you know? I have a lot of crude & oil off the bottom of that same line & as well as the rubber hoses that run under the pump on my frontier. I've had 3 starters gone bad 'maybe due to it leaking' but I'll find out if my power steering hoses are the ones to blame. Thanks!

Thank you for watching and comment, yes, it did stop the leak. It was pretty easy, and I'm not a mechanic, if i can do it , you can do it.

::NOTE:: The flare nut that screws into the Steering Housing is tricky. There is a boss behind the flare nut and your flare nut wrench will bottom out against the boss. The harder you push results in possibly rounding the nut. I thought the nut wouldn't come loose then saw the boss behind the nut. I used vicegrips and it broke loose without an issue!

The "Banjo Nut" (big hollow sucker holds the pressure hose to the pump) takes a 24mm (preferably 6pt) socket. Also, beware of using anything other than conventional p/s fluid (no stop leak!!!) as anything else can (and most likely will) cause a pressure deviation in the regulator valve that deals with the "proportional steering", and lead to falied seals or possibly the pressure hose itself, due to overpressure. Also, be aware that there are several different pressure hoses used, depending on year and configuration. From what I've seen, it appears that there was a changeup midway thru the 2001 3.3L V6 production line. I was able to source mine from O'Reilly's, but I had to have them pull 3 different #'s before they brought up the correct one. Best thing is to either take a couple of pics & measurements (Banjo Nut to sensor, if w/sensor), or even better, bring the leaker with you. Verify lengths, fitting sizes (and angles), etc while you're able to eyeball everything. Also, don't forget to follow all procedures to flush the old fluid, refill with clean/fresh fluid and properly purge the system of air (cavitation will trap microbubbles). Blessings 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I'm so confused. In the video he has a l shaped pipe where the pressure switch is located for my xterra 2001. Any way for me to fix this as mine got broken?

Would this look remotely the same on a 2006 nissan pathfinder? They usually share the same engines with frontiers and xterras of the same year. I have a 2006 pathfinder with leaks on both high pressure and return line. Assuming what you replaced was the high, does that mean that the other one is the return line? thanks in advance!!
@ideaslandscape7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and comment, i did replace the high pressure line, and the other one is the return. and also yes, frontier and exterra share the same kind of engine.

I have the same thing going on in my Xterra as well. Was this both the return line and high pressure line that you replaced? Thanks.
@ideaslandscape9 жыл бұрын
+Ty Robinson I replaced the High pressure first and then noticed a leak on the other one, it was a much easier fix. Thank you for watching and comment.
@Ty_ThatGuy9 жыл бұрын
Thanks. turns out the hoses leading from the power steering reservoir were both leaking. I replaced them and no more leak.

in the very beginning of the video where do you get the red plug that screws into the pressure hose? been looking and can't find it anywhere
@ideaslandscape9 жыл бұрын
+Nikolas Giles You will have to re use the existing one ( red plug = sensor ), just have to unbolt it. Here is a link to the hose. if you want to take a look Edelmann 92313 Power Steering Pressure Hose ( 380988081688 )

+Nikolas Giles did you check the link from ebay? because if the plug won't fit chances are that you have the wrong part.

+ideaslandscape not sure what the part is actually called but closest thing I can find is pressure sensor switch
