I like how calm you are when the housing breaks. I be freaking out.

Thanks for the video. One suggestion there is a very small air release on there thermostate. This release has to face up, otherwise it cannot release bubbles.

Do you need to bleed the system after opening up to replace thermostat?

Thanks! I was considering hiring someone, but this is something I can absolutely do by myself. Seriously thanks!

Another great video Brian. Most jobs on these BMW's are a bear to do but I find the thermostat easier than most other vehicles. For example, just did a 98 ford ranger thermostat & it's much more difficult than this style BMW. Thanks !

Ron Baynes there are some tough ones out there for sure this one was not that bad.

Love the Milwaukee 3/8" m12 fuel gen 2 impact ratchet! An awesome tool, aa glad they improved the anvil from 1st gen. Thanks for this video & SO APPRECIATE the parts list and LINKS! Great time saver and in my opinion, the right thing to do when making a video like this. Thanks again, your awesome for doing this video. Hate replacing thermostats on Mercedes made after '07 as its a pain to have remove belts, pulleys, and other engine components.....a super pain for something that should be relatively easy aa accessible on all cars, lol. Also, thanks for taking the time to reply to our questions, it seems such a silly thing; but a lot of ppl(channels) don't do this & it's always a great big help! It also separates the okay/good channels, from the great ones(in my opinion....😊) Cheers, A👍🏻👍🏻

Great video, 2 questions: did not see you emptie the Coolant / Antifreeze or did you just refill the existing coolant/antifreeze with the new one. My second question, i didnt find the o-ring in the description.. Thank you

Nice job on the repair Brian. When I saw the BorgWarner box I was thinking utt ohhh garbage, and then you made the comment to post a 'better' one in the description. lol

Ozzstar I'm not a fan of BorgWarner parts at all but that's all we could get in time that the customer gave us.

Nice video do i need to bleed the sistem when i do that
@HowtoAutomotive6 жыл бұрын
Filiberto Vargas this one is considered a self bleeding system you just run it for about 10 to 15 minutes with the heater on low AC off until the cooling fans operating run and thermostat opens up.

Great Video! Very helpful! You mentioned the oil leak of the timing cover. Do you have another video where you show how to fix that? My car looks exactly like the one in the video, all dirty and oily like that. Plus there was oil all over the bolts when I removed them. Thanks!

I want the fan to turn on at startup, how do I do this?
@HowtoAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like something custom that you would have to do in programming or wire up a manual switch.

why I can't separate the radiator hose from the thermostat housing even i wiggled it really hard?
@HowtoAutomotive5 жыл бұрын
Try taking the clip all the way out.
@franklinchen28985 жыл бұрын
@@HowtoAutomotiveThank you for your reply. I did that but still it stuck so hard. Eventually I have to break the thermostat housing piece by piece to take it out, that sucks... But I have to replace the housing anyway because my camshaft magnet leaks oil also and the housing breaks into two piece just like yours when i took it out. Do you know the part number of the O-ring on the coolant hose but the way? I did not find it in the description. I did a little search by pausing your video. Is it 029 997 21 48? Thank you!

my snorkel doesn't want to just come out at the intake end. It's clipped in but I'll be damned if I can see how.
@tkid99992 жыл бұрын
Yes! Mine was the same.. took a long time to work it out. Using some long thin flat blade screwdrivers, you can work in between the plastic pieces from the front of the engine, eventually you get to the tabs that are holding the plastic head piece in, and it will let go, and are then free to to remove the whole intake pipe.. not easy, but persistence pays off! :)

Would like to give you a thumbs up, but what is the torque on the bolts. When showing a video you should always show and tell that. Not as professional as could be.
@dlions200715 жыл бұрын
E Phillips Really dude! You took the time to mention why your not giving it a thumbs up because he didn’t entail the the torque spec requirements for 2 bolts? Come on man...
