Great video. Helped me change the regulator on my 1995 car, HOWEVER, it would be worth mentioning that on '94 and '95 cars the original motor is riveted on and to remove it you need to drill ou 4 very tough rivets and supply your own nuts and bolts to fix the new unit. Great video though, took me about an hour with 10 minutes assistance to line up the new bolts etc. Many Thanks. Dave, Spain.

By rivets do you mean that what would be the nuts is actually a rounded edged nut with the bolt head looking like a 3 bladed propeller? That's what mine looks like. I'm wondering if I Dremel out the bolt will I be able to put a nut and bolt to replace them.

yeah, I had to drill out those 4 rivets...and used a punch to remove the 4 screws, and then drilled out the hole to clean out the old solder. Luv this guys classes. Great timing in talk as you do,and fast forwarded ONLY when needed. thx a bunch because I saved a bunch.lol

HI Bill, If you go to your local auto body supply store, they should have the correct glue to attach you window correctly to the regulator. hope this helps you out.

Thank you, I only needed to replace the motor but arms are too big to get in there. I used the blower end of leaf blower to steady the rails as I repositioned the cross bar allowing my arm to squeeze in there. I ran some braided fishing line to the power cable to feed it through the small opening. Buttoned it all back up and voila a working window! Thank you for your step by step guide.

@PL707V Not at all, you have to do this on many applications. You could also rivet it back too, if you had a rivet gun.

I followed the instructions on this video and the replacement went very smoothly. Excellent work, guys! I did find that the window came off the front track during the replacement, but with a little rocking and positioning of the window I was able to get it back on the track. Thanks for your help!

I didnt want to take the new track off but I did anyways because all the tutorials told me to. I took the track off of my brand new motor and was putting my new motor into my old track and a barring that goes to the track broke. I wouldn't of had to touch that barring if I didn't have to use the old track like I didn't want to. Thanks.

You may want to compare it to the other door panel to see if there's a piece missing. It should be set-up the same way.

Your video was very informative, it helped me pull and install a replacement window. i only have 1 issue...when i lower the window with the power button, the front drops first 1/4 to 3/8 inch before the back follows, then all is well, when it goes back up, near the top as it seats, the front seats a little higher. otherwise, works well.

@77Digimortal The basics such as removing the door panel and taping the window in place, and unbolting the window would be the same, the actual procedure to remove the window regulator itself may be slightly different.

you may want to check the regulator to see if anything has broke on it, which could be preventing it from moving. Hope this helps you out.

I ordered the part from 1A Auto and installed it using this video as a guide...the power window is now working perfectly again. One suggestion - make sure you use work gloves when handling stamped metal parts like this regulator. There can be sharp edges.

Thanks for the excellent video!!!! Took approx. 2 hrs. to replace the regulator & motor on a 2000 Mustang drivers side. The 1AWRG01274 regulator & motor is a perfect fit. I did the job by myself and bent up 2 wire coat hangers to hold the window in position. Thanks again for helping me save some $$$.

You could try to put a little bit of white lithium grease on the window regulator track to free the window up.

Good Video. You advise to disconnect battery negative cable at the beginning but you are able to move the window up and down with the switch throughout video. Also the tabs that you even out from the rails to remove the Motor and Regulator from windshield, do you bend them back once you install the new part?

Everything should have lined up correctly. You may want to contact the company that you purchased the part from so that they can check to see if you received the correct part.

There may be some kind of adjustment to the glass that needs to be made to get it to track straight.

You may want to see if the cable on the regulator is broke which may be preventing it from moving.

They should be in the fuse box. You may want to check the owners manual to see where it's located in your car. Usually they are under the dash on the drivers side.

I sounds like you may have a frayed wire in the harness on the driver side. Check the wire harness on the driver side that goes between the hood and body of the car for a broken or frayed wire. If there is one, fix it and it should solve the issue.

Just followed this for my 2000 GT. The tab bending is so much easier than drilling rivets and replacing them. Only trouble I had was trying to push the bolts on the old regulator through their holes. Window was stuck up so that was probably why, just wiggled the glass around a bit and they went right through.

hey i just had the same thing happen on my drivers side power window on my 02 mustang gt.they wanted 400 for a new setup so i took my setup out of the door, took the window motor off the rest of it. opened up motor. the copper part that the brushes make contact with was dirty black color i sanded that up with sandpaper until it was shiny put it back together works like new. try it for yourself. just watch out when u take the motor off of the window part because it has alot of tension.

You might want to take the door panel off and see if a bolt may have come loose in the door, or if there's something else that's wrong.

Mike, I have a 2004 Mustang. The Driver side power window stops working ( in the up position) for a day or so, and then it starts working fine. I tried changing the switch, did not help. We had no trouble with the other window. What is the most common cause for this problem. Great videos! Thanks

Good stuff. My 94 SVT has a working window again. You had it easy not having to drill rivits out LOL. 4 of them to be exact. I have whats left of them stuck on the end of what I now call my rivit bit.....Happy motoring....

Thaknyou for the vid, very helpful. I recently changed driver side regulator on 2001 ford mustang following your video. After complettion the window does not operate smoothly. It bids up and with assistence will go up and down when going down or up about halfway here a small pop. When up seems widows is bending inward more than should as rubber lining by mirror is stresed. i just replaced mine. i would check that you don't have the upper bolt in tabs pushing to hard on the window which would push it away from the seal. i ran mine through a touchless carwash, no leak on replaced window.

i have a 94 and the two bolts that you show in your video are rivets on mine. also i didnt see the two nuts that are suppose to be located nearest the elect conn by the handle. my problem is that the window will roll down but it will not roll up. any suggestions?

This video was helpful for the most part but I have a bit of a problem. The part of the regular that's attached to the bottom of the glass window has detached from the window in my car. So the window is kind of floating freely in my door. With that off the regulator, I attempted just set my window in those rubber cradles due to the rain so I can have my window up and it broke one of the arms as I rolled it up not knowing it wasn't aligned properly. My passenger side window had intermittent contact. In the process of troubleshooting I found the wiring harness had cracked insulation on 5 wires inside the rubber boot that connects the harness from the door to the fuse box inside. Since I had to pull the door panel off I discovered my window is also unglued in 2 spots. I also have a convertible and the window has been getting caught on the top. Can you tell me if you took your car to a glass repair shop, dealer or regular mechanic?

Great Video and really detailed, but I did not remove the window seal. The window stayed level and did not drop. I feel it made it easier and I did not need an assistant. I used a 2x4 just in case, but not necessary. I used an F bit to drill out the rivets and they popped right off. The bolts were #8 metric and I needed 2 bolts and 2 nuts with washers to replace the rivets for my assembly.

Always buy the entire regulator. Despite everyone telling me that the plastic gears in the motor were gone, it turns out on my '02 the motor was fine, It was the 3 spot welds the held the 'ring gear' to the arm that broke. If I would have listened to my expert friends, I would have had to return a motor and order the entire regulator.

Nice vid but might want to update the mustang years. Doing a 95 mustang now it's riveted in place. Found out same is for 94 & maybe even 96. So make sure to have at least 2 nuts & 2 bolts handy to replace the 4 rivets holding the assembly to the door.

i have a 99 mustang and the window won't go all the way up or down anymore but you can hear a "knocking" or "clunking" noise inside when you try it. the window itself is completely loose inside the door. i can just grab it and pull it up or push it down almost like it might just be off the track??? it falls by itself when i start to drive. is the cause for the problem the window motor and regulator?

Hi, thanks for the great video! I have an 01 mustang and the window rolls up fine. the window rolls down fine also. my only problem is that when i let the window roll all the way down by itself, once its passed the weather strip and its in the all the way down position, the motor doesn't stop and it starts making a clicking sound until i tap the switch up. then once i try to roll it back up from the all the way down position, it makes the same clicking sound and the window doesn't roll up. it seems like it is stuck or something. it will only go up if i take the panel off and lift up the bottom track so it pushes the window up above the weather strip. then it rolls up and down fine with the switch and it doesn't make any clicking sounds. what should i do?

You may want to take the door panel off while you make it go up and down to see what may be causing the issue.

The Driver side window only goes down a little bit and when I roll it back up, only the backside of the window goes up not the front side(closest to mirror) so I have to use my hand to pick the window up from the front so it will sit right when I close my door. whats going wrong inside the door?

You may want to check the power that goes to the switch and also the window motor to see if the switch is sending power to the window motor on your Mustang. If there's power to the switch but not the motor, the switch may be bad, if there's no power to the switch at all, check the wire harness between the door and body of the car for a loose or broken wire. If there is a broken wire, once you repair it, your window should work once again. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I have a 2006 mustang gt. The windows automatically lower approx 1/4 inch when doors open then close when door shuts. Passenger side lowers but does not go back up without using window switch. What part needs replacement? Since this has been happening, my battery is being drained when window isn't in up position, is this just a coincidence?

Hi thanks for the awesome video brother - i have 2001 mustang; I have problem with the right window switch i guess - when the window is closed and i press the button to push it down it come smoothly and works just fine but the problem when i want to push it up again the button not working! - is that from the switcher? one more thing my Remote-lock -key is working for the right door perfectly i can close it and open it remotely but from the left main door its kind of hang, Sometimes after several tries it works but frequently it's not working kindly help! ( so " Right Window button & Left door Remote Lock) Thanks a lot again

If if seems like it's an intermittent issue, you may want to check the wire harness that runs between the door and body of the car for a frayed wire which may need to be repaired. You could also check the power to and from the switch with an ohm meter or a test light to see if it's working okay. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
