There is ALWAYS a way to make rigid pipe work. Takes a bit of work sometimes but usually not. Thanks Roger!

Hi Roger thanks for the awesome video. I have Covid and it’s not a lot of fun. I feel like a truck ran over me but hopefully it will go away soon. Take care of yourself Roger I’ll be seeing you.

My gag reflex was going off lol. Total utmost respect to plumbers 🫡. Thank you, Roger, I needed this video for both my bathroom sinks. Previous owner made a rollercoaster out of the drain pipes.

I replaced two of those accordion drains today. Those suck

Whats better for the neck, plastic or metal? Most new faucets all come with plastic necks and connections. What can cause more smell from the drain over time? Ive replaced many, I always leave a paper towel under neath for a day or two. If its bone dry, I know everyhting is solid

its good you use the sevice one's, i find sum plumbers use the glue one so no one can service the system. I remove them and put the seviceable ones.

I did this not that long ago at my house. Got creative but it’s been leak free. When I was working on my vanity my dad dumped a bucket of water down the drain and onto my head.

Is it common to see the stub out and fixture outlet not line up nicely? Like you said this was offset at 22 1/2. Are they using a less common fitting angle to make up for it? I’ve been told that 99% of the time I’ll use 45 and 90s but would this call for the 22 1/2 fitting?
@brucestorey9175 ай бұрын
Roger, you left a leak where the pop up assembly gasket meets the bottom of the bowl. You can see that it has been leaking for a long time because of the grunge buildup on the threads beneath the nut.

What about retrofitting a P-trap with a mechanical vent where an S-trap used to be without opening up the walls? In my area, I think this is a more common problem than the accordion.

What do you do if your drain doesn't libe up to the p trap ? I have an accordion for now cause I don't know what else to do

You’ll have to glue a 45 fitting coming out of the wall.

With a trap adapter glued into the 45 obviously

So my main question is are accordions not good to use at all? I’m doing a small remodel in my garage bathroom and I literally just bought one at Lowe’s.
@gman35635 ай бұрын
They do make accordions with a liner so it doesn't do that.. it's really an only option use for me. I have on in my downstairs bathroom because of how everything lined up I just couldn't get anything to line up right

Use your cordless shop vac while you undo the trap if its too low for a bucket! Why use tubular? Just a common thing for certain areas? Usually just hard pipe with a union trap.
@jocool5625 ай бұрын
Accordian pipes are only good for pop up trailers, the sink typically folds down
@bawintermage83515 ай бұрын
The contractor, when installing the vanity, replaced the metal pipes and installed accordion lines and within one month they were black. Is this code compliant? They never returned to repair the leaks and the cabinet is already ruined.

They are not code compliant. Contractors cheap way of getting house finished. All you need is a straight tail piece.
@kchicago645 ай бұрын
They are illegal in North America. Drain lines must be a smooth surface. S-Traps are also illegal Should of just used a 1-1/4” p-trap and the 1-1/2 slip nut and 1-1/2-1-1/4 slip nut washer at the marvel adapter They had too much pitch on the 22-1/2. Trap on an angle. Should of cut out behind the 22-1/2 and repipe it Use your 1-1/2 p-traps on kitchen, and laundry tubs.
