This video came at the perfect time. My parents are in a convalescent home and my dad passed away last Monday. I saved all his dress shirts from his closet. My Mom is so lonely without him as they have been married 62 years. Her space is small and she can’t have a lot of personal items there. I will take those shirts today and start her crazy quilt from them. A quilt is something personal she can have. Her birthday is in three weeks. A quilt from dads shirts will be a wonderful gift for her. Thank You so much.

Just discovered this channel via this recommended video. I think my grandmother somehow had a hand in putting it on my feed. I am currently making a quilt using leftover pieces from her dresses. I also have my mom’s old taffeta wedding dress from the 1960’s that I don’t know what to do with, thinking that material wouldn’t work for a quilt. You guys have helped me realize that rules are meant to be broken & to think outside the box. Thank you!!!

Gentlemen thank you for the video! The quilt with all of the beautiful designer fabrics made my heart go pitter patter, but alas it something that I will not do for the fact that I have no experience working with those types of fabrics. However, when the second quilt-in-progress was pulled out it reminded me of the set of quilts I finished for my daughters, completed with my father's shirts. He passed 10 years ago, and some of those shirts were at least 6 or 7 years old themselves making them somewhat threadbare. All were plaid, fitting for an older American man, and the quilts were finished off with a dark chambray to resemble blue jeans. Tears were had all around. (The girls made me promise to save enough fabric for my own quilt) It is my favorite thing to do to make a quilt to remember a special occasion or friendship. I may never make a masterpiece but I will make something that touches the heart and for me, that is much more important.

I love to see all the ways you both use your creativity! The patchwork pieces from fabric found at Arne's family home remind me a great deal of two patchwork quilts that I have that my great grandmother made. Lucky for me, my mother had her tell her the story of the different fabrics used in the quilt and Mama wrote them down. It makes these two quilts even more special knowing their history! Love your podcast and look forward to spending my Sunday afternoons with the two of you.

It’s all so beautiful, they bring back so many fond memories. When I was young I became the very proud owner of a patchwork quilt and that has kept me enthralled with all of it, the quilt was made with leftover pieces of old worn out clothing and then I embroidered different pictures all over it. (As well as all my clothes and anything else I was allowed to. Lol.) Thank you so much for the video with wonderful ideas and influences, and a truly awesome trip down memory lane. Thanks guys ❤️👋🏻😁
