Please I am not sure the 15 hardness is the dot on top you lined up or how do you set up the 2people to 15 in the middle line. could you please please make clear and if you want softer water do you set it up higher than 15 to use up more salt? for example 25 to 2 people?

I believe the people in home setting allows for a reserve, so if your softener runs out at 10am, you have enough soft water capacity left to last until 2am the next day.

You need to get a test kit. My new water softener came with 2 kits. My test showed my water is very hard. Around 24 grains. I believe Home Depot sells the test kits. Best of luck!

How would you set up GPG for a household with 6 family members? is there a chart available? I pushed a new house which has a water softener installed with a meter (Model 5600 Econominder) similar to yours. It is not running right now. How do I clean the brine tank? It has water and salt in it about 1/4 of the tank. Are there any gaskets or small parts that also needs to be cleaned out due to the potential mold growth.

Is water hardness here measured in GPG or PPM? Also, when I set people to harness, water capacity dial turns automatically and it turns to a ridiculously long time between regens. I cannot find a video that addresses this issue and three plumbers have come to my house and done it incorrectly.

Recently moved to a home with this softener. Noticed the tub of salt had standing water. Emptied the water.. how did this happen? How/what salt should be used? I followed this video to reset it as well.

Just add softner salt. There should be a bit of water inside. After you add the salt there should be 3-4 inch of water. Any more is an issue.

You might have a salt bridge somewhere not permitting salt to flow through system. I frankly find this system a pain in the butt, and I still am not sure if harness on this model is measured in GPG or PPM. I would recommend you call a plumber or water quality specialist, but the ones I have called have been complete incompetents. It has taken 3 of them to render my water uselessly hard. Idiots.

My softener started to go off when I'm sleeping and it wakes me up. How do I change it to regenerate while I'm at work during the day? Mine is very similar to this in the video.

Reset the Regen time

Reset the clock on the big wheel. If you get home around 5pm then set it to 4 or 5 am that way the softener thinks it’s 2 am (which is the factory set regeneration time ) when it will be 2 pm. As long as no one is home using any water at that time

You can't adjust the time the system regenerates. What you can adjust if the time of day the system thinks it is. In my case I like the regeneration later at like 3 AM. So I set the time of day 1 hour earlier than it actually is. For example if the time of day is actually 7 PM, I set the systems time of day to 6 PM. That's just the way it is with these mechanical water softeners. I had bought a digital model that would let you adjust the regeneration time, but they said my warranty would be void because I installed it outdoors. So back it went and got another mechanical model. My last water softener lasted over 20 years outdoors. I had replaced the control head one time. It would probably kept running with another control head replacement, but the fiberglass tank was starting to delaminate. Best of luck!

I'm not sure. Usually there's a chemical kit you can buy to test it.

why do you think your brine is full of water? set the meter for maximum amount oh people in the house. change the re gen time may be 30 min from the current time, open all the taps. it should empty itself.
