As a neuropsychiatrist, I want to say that there is nothing inherently wrong with id functions. The "bad: to which you refer is nothing more than the sociocultural/religious valence ascribed to id. Of course, any behavior that becomes extreme can be bad. But id functions are no inherently bad.

Thanks for the comment, really appreciate you sharing this. I didn’t mean that the id itself was bad, but acting on it even though you know the behavior isn’t good for you is bad.

@@bodihess I agree that if it's bad for you, it's not a good thing to behave in that way. I'm just saying that human drives, such as sex (including masturbation), are not bad for you unless you lose control and it takes over your other functioning.

Kudos and gratitude! I appreciate how you spoke about this in these times of rush where it is so much needed. Very brave of you to share your goings and overcomings. Swami Vivekananda says that desires are for distraction and become petty once we control our minds. The lesser the desires the more easy it is to bring our mind under control. This is all very necessary for people who go for The road not taken and or spiritual journeys.🙏

I understand man, the first week was always hardest for me and the second week was just as hard. I always found once I got past that though, it became much easier and I started to get less temptations. Good luck on this journey bro
