Best video yet!! Dr. Becca Kennedy is Amazing! Such a good speaker on Mind Body Medicine. She puts the ideas and concepts in such clear and easy to relate to ways. Her example of what happens during a fear of heights is a new classic to remember. I want to remember this entire video word for word. Dr Kennedy is so up on the topic that she can just tell us all the steps and factors and seems to be so effortless, but is the result of intense study and comprehension. Thank you so so very much.

I would add that this video is a great source for Everyone learning Mind Body Med, not just Co-vid survivors. I would change the title so that a greater audience will see it.

It's a good point, although we have many general webinar videos already (like this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5-2m4poe5h9gNk ), and are using this particular video to reach people struggling to treat their Long Covid symptoms. Also Dr. Kennedy is focusing her time on helping Long Covid patients at Kaiser, so we want to draw attention to that. Thanks for your input though!

Thank you so much for doing this. I've been searching for information on this kind of brain retraining for long covid-related fatigue. Since learning about Dr. Schubiner and pain reprocessing therapy about 2 weeks ago and trying to apply the principles to my fatigue, I'm feeling at least 60% better! What I've been looking for is information on how to apply this process specifically to fatigue. In the "fatigue community" we are constantly told to be very careful about increasing any kind of exercise or physical activity for fear of bringing on a "crash," and naturally this stirs up a lot of anxiety. I'm increasing my physical activity very gradually and carefully, just in case, but I hope we will see more information about how to apply this kind of therapy to fatigue conditions.

Hi Laura, Thanks for writing! And we're so glad you found it helpful. Yes, you're exactly right that fear messaging around post-exertional malaise can have the effect of creating a fear-symptom spiral, just like with pain. We collected resources for post-exertional malaise on our site here: www.thismighthurtfilm.com/other-symptoms/#post-exertional-malaise Check out the work of ME/CFS survivors who have overcome their extreme fatigue and now teach others. Michelle Wiegers and Rebecca Tolin. (links to their sites are also on the PEM link above) Howard Schubiner, MD has written about fatigue here: www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/unlearn-your-pain/201606/explaining-the-unexplainable-chronic-fatigue-syndrome And there's lots more resources for the fatigue of Long Covid here: www.thismighthurtfilm.com/long-covid Wishing you the best, and let us know how it goes! You can always reach us at tmfilm@gmail.com Thanks!

Post exertion is my issue at the moment. I’d done well, up to 20 minute walks but had a life upheaval and just haven’t been able to sustain my walking. Thank you for these resources- I’ll look into them. I hope in the very near future there will be more help and teachings/techniques for post exertion issues. I suppose somatic tracking would be very beneficial. Thanks for hearing me.

Slowly teach your body that you don’t need to be afraid of this unconscious fear. Key is experience pain a little bit, and reminding yourself that: This is not dangerous Yes it’s uncomfortable Yeah I don’t want it But it’s not dangerous My body is okay Slowly turns that circuit off and your brain relearns pain

Do we know why some develop chronic pain and others develop tingling, migraines, fatigue or other bodymind symptoms?
@kent.bassett
@kent.bassett Жыл бұрын
Generally speaking the most reliable predictor of who will go on to develop these symptoms are people who experienced mild, moderate, or severe childhood adversity and current-day trauma and stress. They are more likely to have hyper-vigilance that can lead to a spiral of fear and symptoms.

I really hope this helps me. I'm in pain everyday and I'm so afraid to eat so I loose weight a lot. Currently 117lbs at 5'10", I'm afraid of traffic and going away from home. I've not been further than 4 miles from my house in years. Too many panic attacks and anxiety all the time. I never feel safe.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, according to Howard Schubiner, MD most cases of pain attributed to SFN are reversible through brain retraining. Wishing you luck with your recovery.

@@monnmar1 Hi, There's lots of people who have healed from neuropathic-type pain, including someone who appears in our film This Might Hurt. As far as Small Fiber Neuropathy more specifically, I can't point you to public stories of recovery, but don't let that slow you down. I'm aware that a number of people have worked with Howard Schubiner, MD and overcome their SFN symptoms, so you could reach out to him if you'd like. You can reach out to him at cormendihealth.com
