My daughter was recently diagnosed with PCOS. The only advice she was given was to go on the birth control pill. Neither of the two doctors who she seeked treatment from ever mentioned that insulin resistance could be the cause of the high testosterone causing PCOS. One doctor could explain what PCOS was but when asked couldn't tell her why her body was producing too much testosterone.Your video was so informative. I'm so amazed that neither female doctor even mentioned changes in diet could help reverse the affects of PCOS especially since it is such a common diagnosis.

Same thing happened with me. I refuse to take birth control. Now im 32 and trying desperately to cure myself naturally so I can hopefully conceive. I know 4 other women who have also been diagnosed and none if them have been told about diet changes either. It's frustrating that no doctor will tell you about diet change. I'm glad your daughter has you to help guide her.

I have a sis who has 2 older boys and the 2nd youngest is 10 or 11 years old right now, they tried alot for a long time to have a baby because their sons were big now, but nothing happened, she even went to see a doctor for fertility and told her very bad news. She called me super sad one day and told me her situation, a friend of mine (who is about 32 or more) also had the same issue but she got pregnant when she tries Keto, I told my sister about it and she got very excited, next thing I knew was that she lost a lot of weight and also looked younger, after some weeks in Keto she finally found out she was pregnant!

One of the easiest ways to help reverse PCOS is following a low carb and high fat lifestyle. I don't think this necessarily has to be strict as keto but definitely low carb will help. @Health Coach Kait I am wondering if you might talk about dairy, caffeine and female hormones in any of your videos? I never had pcos or blood sugar issues but last summer I decided to improve my fitness and tried a recommendation someone else had made to give up coffee and dairy (because I seem to be an “estrogen body type”). Even though I’d never thought those items were ever a problem for me before,I couldn’t believe what a difference it made. I dropped weight, my skin, energy, and mood improved, and my periods stopped (which was fine at age 54). After about 8 weeks, I went back to coffee and dairy and then noticed a rapid change back, (including my period starting within a couple of days), but I’m having a hard time giving up my coffee and dairy again. I’ve managed to maintain my 35lb weight loss and switched to all organic dairy and no more than one cup of coffee a day but I still feel like one or both are affecting my hormones. I try to be mindful of carbs (and usually I do eat them last with my meal) and have been fairly consistent with daily IF 20:4 or 18:6. Any thoughts are appreciated!

So, from my research not all PCOS is insulin resistance induced. Personally, I've dozens of blood tests to look at my insulin and I actually have great insulin. There are different types of PCOS by how they are induced. The main being insulin resistance, but that seems to be the only or the main approach so many Doctors take with it. I wouldn't say that insulin resistance is the root cause of PCOS. It would be more accurate to say that the main culprit of PCOS is a hormonal imbalance to some extent. The extent of it even varying individual to individual. From the studies I've looked at it seems that the following are categories are the ways in which PCOS can be induced. 1. Insulin-resistant PCOS 2. Pill-induced PCOS--However I feel that this extends to all BC because IUDs themselves cause cysts on ovaries. 3. Inflammatory PCOS 4. Adrenal Induced PCOS Each type requires their own specific approach to treatment.
@HealthCoachKait2 жыл бұрын
90% of PCOS cases are caused by IR. It is the reason why metformin is so effective for PCOS symptoms - it improves insulin sensitivity. Depending on where you get your insulin tested a lot of reference ranges are too high. >3IU/L is ideal. Anything higher is some resistance 🙏
@bluediamondbh932 жыл бұрын
@@HealthCoachKait again, my insulin is literally on point which is why I brought it up. I wasn't sharing that to be negative. More just adding comment for others who've seen the video to have as a point of reference as well. Because even though there are so many with insulin issues, it doesn't mean it started with insulin issues. In fact other factors can create an issue with one's insulin levels because of the impact on the hormones themselves. Therefore it's easy to mislabel individuals with their type of pcos. But the fact still remains there are those of us with PCOS who do not have issues with insulin resistance so it's very misleading for you to state that PCOS root cause is insulin resistance. That means that's incorrect. The root cause is an imbalance of hormones that is caused by XYZ and each individual can be different.

Question is that is this okay to keep taking it this way or it beaks the fast and I should take it to work and maybe take it in the last hour before I start eating? Thank you soooooo much for your help! I appreciate it a lot! 😇🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

What are the symptoms do you have at starting stage of pcod?
@91adriennemarie2 жыл бұрын
the only thing I get confused about is if it is possible to reverse it like you are saying. Are there any studies on this ? on reversing it and pcos not returning? I've been living with this for a pretty long time and it has changed over the years but I did have complications even as a young girl so I'm wondering if that is even possible. Also, my biggest struggle is that I'm trying to figure out how to fix my fasting glucose. I do so well otherwise. It seems that its always a little higher in the morning. It used to be between 70 and 80 but since having insulin resistance it is between 90 and 100 now. I usually have a lower carb dinner to help compensate but for some reason it still spikes in the morning. What can I do to lower it?

We basically have to stick to a low carb diet, and depending on each case also a dairy free diet, for ever, in order for our bodies to function properly 😣
@HealthCoachKait2 жыл бұрын
You can reverse it! And when you do you can add more carbs back in as your body will be able to tolerate them better. It can take time but if you follow the steps in the video your fasting blood sugar should come down. I also recommend checking out DRM Jaime Seeman. She is an OB-GYN who reversed her own PCOS 🙏
@alexagioli2 жыл бұрын
Your supposed to get a spike in the morning, it's your body releasing glucose to "wake you up". Everyone gets that. You just have to find out what's a normal "spike" for your body and go from there. You can look this up as well if it makes you more comfortable 🤗
@91adriennemarie2 жыл бұрын
@@HealthCoachKait thank you for your reply. I've been doing all this since about August and I'm still having issues so thats what I was wondering. I know it spikes naturally when you first wake up but it kinda stays there so it's definitely not ideal and I just have no idea how to change it.

Extremely difficult to reverse PCOS while avoiding animal products, which is why I don't recommend it. It's near impossible to get enough protein and moderate carbs. I explain more in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5rImqmBr7ZspNE
@BGr8ful4all Жыл бұрын
@@HealthCoachKait No, it is not difficult to eat low carb being vegetarian or vegan. Animal products are not healthy at all and you’re killing innocent animals that are scared out of their minds. People that eat a whole food plant-based diet without processed foods, are not insulin resistant.
@BGr8ful4all Жыл бұрын
Go whole food plant-based. Eliminate processed foods. You could incorporate smoothies with vegetables and berries. If you have trouble giving up bread, try Ezekiel bread or other low carb bread.

I think pcos is more complex than just having insulin resistance. Ive been doing keto for the last 4 years, and I still have amenorrhea, and the first 2 year of keto I had no period at all (I ditch the bcp when I started keto). I still can't figure it out what drives my pcos :(
@HealthCoachKait2 жыл бұрын
Amenorrhea alone can be caused by things besides PCOS. Getting off the birth control pill is one thing that can cause it. It took me close to two years to get my period back after getting off the pill 😥 Bodyweight and fat % being too low can also be the cause. Anything under 20% you will be at risk.
@alexagioli2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried intermittent fasting? How low are your carbs? I try to keep mine below 50g but my goal is 25g/day. I also cut down on sugar, no more than 5-8 g /per day. Are you drinking wine /alcohol? That has to go. What I'm trying to say is if you're making changes and they're not working you HAVE to get a little stricter every time until you find what your body needs. Also, manage stress, it's a HUGE factor and can raise your blood sugar (Im still working on this one lol). I hope this helps!

@@alexagioli yes, I IF a lot and was very low carb at the beginning and I didn't got my period at all. I started having my period when I increased the amount of meat I was eating, including organ meats, I went carnivore a few times but it didnt work long term. I dont drink alcohol at all, I dont like it, so thats not an issue. In my whole life Ive had less than 10 periods, and I'm 34, I really dont know what else to try at this point. And yeah stress is a big component on my pcos, working on that too
@alexagioli2 жыл бұрын
@ wow you've really done a lot! Well first off, kudos to you for sticking with this long and your willingness to try new things to see what will work! That's literally half the battle. Are you getting enough sun or at least vitamin D3 & k2. I'm about to try these myself. I also take inositol and berberine. I would also look into magnesium/potassium or check with your doctor to make sure your mineral levels are good. I just started taking ashwaganda and magnesium when I'm stressed. Also something for the adrenals (the ashwaganda and magnesium also help with this). They're super connected to your ovary function as well! I also send my love to you! 🤗Im 31 and have had PCOS for about 7 years now and am just now seriously giving these things a shot. I know how emotionally taxing this can be so if any of this resonates, I hope it can help you in the right direction! ❤️❤️❤️

Women are advised to do keto slightly differently as it can mess with your cycle. A week before your period is due to start incorporate foods that will assist with progestrone production like sweet potatoes, lentils, squash, seeds. This will kick you out of ketosis but it is nesessary to eat foods that will assist your body to produce hormones that regulate your cycle

Is insulin resistance the same as diabetes? I have a dark patches and such sptoms of diabetes but my blood sugar is fine. I am also on bc lo loestrin because I had a heavy bleeding ( 3 months) after an irregular almost absent period for 5 years
@Jenna_FarNorth2 жыл бұрын
Untreated insulin resistance can lead to type 2 diabetes. Blood sugar # isn’t always a good indicator of insulin resistance. Sometimes your blood sugar number may look good, but your body may have had to release a ton of insulin to bring it down to that “normal” number.

I can see how one day some man is going to fall hopelessly head over heels in love with her and she’s going to have a baby and be A world class mother. Of course she’s in Australia so she needs to keep the dingoes from her baby. So there’s a bunch of nonsense and I hope it helped the channel.
