This is the one video that uncomplicated it all for me!

That coil in the wire will do nothing for power surges... lol. Although it sure looks fancy. The only way to protect against surges, is the excess voltage above your desired voltage, has a way to go to ground without going through the solenoids into the water.

Yup that’s why they are starting to put ground rods in for timers

Now hold on, what's up with those I am iron things that come around sensitive electronic cables and how would grounding affect anything, you're not grounding out your live circuit me hopes

I have old copper piping ran for my wiring encase. Is it possible to run the wire through the soldered pipes. I'm thinking the issue would be the 90 degree turns. Any suggestions or should I just bury it? How deep?

KUDOS to you: I am a sparky. I have NEVER heard anyone except for me tell anyone else to leave an extra 12 inches of wire in a panel. I ALWAYS leave extra in every box, device box as well as panel. When you get good at it no one will even notice the extra wire....until they need it and eventually they will need it. BTW, if you are a pro company and running wire like this, use different colors for different valve banks. If you had red, black, blue you would know that red was zones 1-4, black 5 - 9 and blue 10 -14 etc. Similarly one could use color codes for bubblers and sprinklers etc, so that the zone doesn't matter, only the kind of device. The time should be the same for every zone of the same type and group by type in the controller for easier programming. However, Underground Feed wire like 16/4 through 16/10 is a LOT easier to run and every solenoid would be on one color ( and you would have extra wires in the bundle if one had a problem. That would give you 9 zones.

Can you just run the wires in the garage wall? Do you have to run the wires up to the controller box through a pvc pipe?

awesome thank you for saving me time and money.

Is 16 AWG "marine wire" good for sprinklers? Wasn't sure if all 16 AWG wire are created equal. Thank you!

Why do you use many single wire cables instead of one multiple wires cable?
@gastcast29594 жыл бұрын
Probably cheaper in bulk
@noeeon99104 жыл бұрын
Because multistrand is trash, lol ok it's not trash it has its uses. But single strand is way better.. and just like pipe sizing you have to account for losses based off your wire thickness ( gauges )

I hate seeing a bunch of red wire when trying to diagnosing problems. I much prefer a unique color for every valve

Also not a bad valve manifold..

I think its always better to put those wires in a pvc pipe of some sort. When trees and plants root around the area it could ruin your wires causing some major headache.
@graphguy Жыл бұрын
ya PVC pipe is dirt cheap, no need to not spend the extra pennies.

You guys should waterbore next time. Put a 2inch nozzle at the end of a 3/4" sch40 pipe and thread a hose bib adapter on the other end. And there you have a water bore.
@teenac46854 ай бұрын
Problem with water bore is the dirt you need to pack back in that space in order to maintain appropriate support for that obstacle is washed away. It's also a muddy mess that homeowners won't appreciate.
@noeeon99104 ай бұрын
@@teenac4685 not really, for smaller applications water boring is just fine.

I wish I had Hired you. I paid 5k in early March 20 for an 8 zone system. One zone never worked. All pipes and wires are exposed to surface. No proper water distribution. And a manifold in a walkpath already two people have fallen on it. And so many More issues. I'm gradually trying to fix issues. But have lost more than 10k in landscape. And cried many nights. Now I know.
