Waste of 7 minutes. She just says what you need to survive for 12 months if you want to quit your job is put away what you make now per month and multiply it by 12. You can skip watching this video now.

You have to invest your savings. You can't just save.

If you have eggs and flour they show you that it's possible to make a cake, but they never tell you to get the eggs, so you starve instead.

People can do this without saving a dime by not having any debt... So, no debt = this job can shove it

Eh, you do have to prioritize what's important to you, both in the present and the future. Having an emergency fund, a fun fund, AND an f-you fund is highly unlikely unless you were an incredibly high-earner, but to her point with the challenges we face, most aren't in that position. For years and years I was always in the red, spending more than I was earning. Partly because of the bad habit of credit card debt, but more importantly, my salary was what I thought that's all I was worth. Once debt was gone, that provided a lot of freedom to not be weighed down with paying interest. And as for the job, I'm still not earning gobs of money, but the "work-life" balance is better, so I feel like the compensation matches the work, and if there's an opportunity to move to another job, it's a non-negotiable for higher pay to switch companies, switch jobs, etc. I know my worth now, especially compared to my younger counterparts who don't know yet the basics of quality work.

The priorities here are misaligned. All of us, are always fortunate, to have the opportunity to work and make a living (or more). Thus, while I agree, financial freedom allows one to choose the most desirable position available (or to retire), this does not equate to "tell your boss to shove it". A bit of gratitude goes a long way - one can simply say "No, thank you." A lack of gratitude leads to emotional uncertaintly, arrogance, and an unhealthy outlook in life. We all struggle, and some are forced to work in jobs that are patently unjust, others cannot even find this kind of work. There are deeper issues here. A potential offer or future employer presents an opportunity, not a straw man to lash out against because you have some savings. I repeat, just say "No, thank you." Gratitude is a very important quality.

Just get out and stay out of debt - and be amazed at how much more tolerable your job becomes when your paycheck isn’t already spent before it’s earned.
