1:44 Please note that (at least on B5.5 Passat) the radiator drain cock can be accessed without pulling the bumper cover. Simply remove the left fog light grill to access the drain cock and outlet fitting. Much easier and less messy to drain the radiator that way.

At 0:28, you correctly state that G12 coolant must be used, and that coolant is red. But at 7:00, you’re shown pouring green coolant in the expansion tank. Why the discrepancy?

hi there, many thanks for the video, just one question, what about flushing the different parts with tap water and then using the recommended coolant?, would it that be terrible for my system?, thanks in advance.
@HaynesManuals Жыл бұрын
Probably wouldn't do any harm at all.

@@HaynesManuals thanks for the answer sir, I was afraid cause I always heard that never to use tap water; but instead recommended coolant or distilled water.

Did you not say it needs red coolant?! I own a 2002 Passat 2.8 and don’t know what coolant to use , please help
@PonderingOne11 ай бұрын
You’re correct. It needs coolant that meets G12 standards. It will be pink or red.

what if i don't have tools to measure torque, can i still tighten those thermostat bolts by hand and feeling, is it a big deal??? we are not working on a competition F1-like engine here TIA
@HaynesManuals2 жыл бұрын
It's entirely possible to tighten the bolts without a torque wrench. Just don't overtighten them!
