So, just bought this on Ebay. And YES, it kills squirrels. Id say 7 out of 10 times it kills them instantly or very quickly. The other few times the squirrel is quick enough and it misses or, the squirrel frees itself and is mortally wounded. I average about 2 squirrels a day with this trap! It has really brought down the numbers noticeably!

Which has a more powerful spring? The Black Cat Metal and Plastic Rodent Trap OR....the Ouell 4-11 Trap? I want to capture squirrels primarily.

How can I get the kill bar to get caught in the set position? I've set it before ok, & had two kills. But it just doesn't want to get in the set position now.

The manufacturers of the Black Cat only make this in grey.

@@FortProducts Does the trap have base-mounts? I would need to secure it inside a wooden tunnel to prevent bycatch.
@FortProducts2 жыл бұрын
@@markrm16 Hello, sorry no base mounts are available for this product. You would have to build this feature into your tunnel. You could tether the rear column using some wire as a possible option. Thanks.

If it doesn't click, your main bait is too thick ie too high,

Rats have become too intelligent these days.. Not trying to take away the food but they eat the food with out disturbing the trap
@FortProducts3 жыл бұрын
Yes Vishnu rats are very intelligent and taking away from the trap is a common problem, regardless of the type used. If you are having this problem I would either continue baiting the trap as it's likely that the rats will get more used to it and thus more likely they will make a mistake. An alternative solution is to try a different bait.

Use a Tootsie Roll covered in peanut butter. The candy will not come off the hook and rodents cannot resist the peanut butter!
@jaanu22222 жыл бұрын
That's not an issue , i've figure it out after my first fail , the key here is use a bait that could not be teared from the hook i.e even if you pull it from the side your food should not be tear from the side , i used a piece of roti like fold it like 4-5 times and hook it all in and it becomes so hard that it can't be freed from the side , and i also make sure that not a single piece of food gets to the rat , also i keep the door shut of the kitchen so always the rat has to eat my bait though i never had to wait more than an hour , the rat always fall for the traps very quickly and die within seconds , so yeah make sure no food must be available for the rats and use hard structure food as bait will definitely kill the rats

Actually I don't like that, there's not 2-3 rings to pull up that thing while setting the trap... it's so dangerous to keep finger at the front while pulling it up.
@cdfort3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daadaaji, over-engineering any device will add additional cost to the unit. Whilst I get the additional grips could be handy, in my experience, it's very easy to set these traps whilst preventing your fingers from being active within the kill zone.
