Mark, what is the product that you get out of the "Bee Shrimp" container? It is a white powder that you add 2 scoops of it to your water container.

I hope i'm not asking too much. Can you please make a video how to cull each grade of cherry shrimps? As a beginner i dont know how would I cull my Red Fire Sakura Shrimp. I want to maintain or improve their colours. We've just talked about CRS if betta's would bother them. I went for the Medium Grade Red Fire Sakura Shrimps because they are cheaper and many said they are the best beginner shrimp. they are my very first shrimps and they are so happy swimming about in my tank. I love them so much 😍 I bought about 10 online yesterday and they arrived today.

Hello Mark, The RO system is fantastic and practical, do you use a booster pump in the RO system at the filter cartridges. How do you switch on and off the RO system
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 5 жыл бұрын
Hello my friend, no I dont use a booster pump my water pressure is very high here, I use a auto shutoff valve and an arm inside the water container , when its full the arm is at its highest position and the water is stopped this causes back pressure on the system that shuts the water flow off :)

@@MarksShrimpTanks Hello Mark thanks for the reply. You use a 60ltr container to store the RO water and you dose 1ml of seachem prime. But as per seachem dosing guide it should be 1.5ml for 60ltr right or am I missing something here? I understand the TDS is 150 and what is the gh you are aiming after adding 2 scoops of the bee mineral gh+ to 60ltr. I follow you crs setup guide and water chemistry to streamline my tank. Thanks in advance.
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 5 жыл бұрын
I dont dose any prime into my RO container now it has double carbon filters in it and when I did dose it was only a few drops, RO water tends to be very clean so you dont need much Prime. To get 150ppm you will need 3 scoops for 60 liters of water >(
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 5 жыл бұрын
There is no seachem dose for RO water.

Hi mark your videos are billiant and educational. Im wandering if you can help me, ive just purchased a R/O filter and the sufficient minerals but at the moment im just running normal water in my R.C.S tank and adults are fine but babys are dropping fast, could you point me in the right direction of how i should convert my60l tank over to full R/O water, i dont want to fully drain and start again or kill any of my shrimp. Any advice would be brilliant thanks. And keep up the good work.

Remember and age the water before you put it in the tank I do this with RO water as well, typically I will add the salts that I need to make it up to 200ppm and then let is sit a day with air running through it to turn it over, and then do my water change. A save way to get to your lower TDS is not to use salt at all and add just pure RO at 5% every two days until you get to your goal tds :)

With the RO water, it has no minerals then? So could you add diatomaceous earth to the bucket you have while your waiting to use it? It replaces minerals to water. I know if I put some in the bottom of a gallon jug of "pure" water. I just shake it then let it settle then I can drink it as mineralized water. Can you do that for your shrimp? Just wondering.
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 7 жыл бұрын
Correct RO is pure water ,I am not sure about the diatomaceous earth to be honest .

Great video as always Mark. May I ask what pump are you using to pump ro water from your storage container to the tanks, and how are you connecting 6mm pipe to it?
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 7 жыл бұрын
Its an old powerhead ,the pipe that comes out of it is 10mm I think and an RO fitting slides into it perfectly ..its that I have the 6mm RO Pipe pushed into, I will write it down to show you in the next video :)

so i have just bought a ro/di becuase my tap water is liquid rock. I mean 800 tds from the tap. I found if i dilute 4 gallons of ro into 6cups of tap i get 4gh 2kh and 65tds. should i add anything else to my mixture for my cherries?
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 7 жыл бұрын
You need to get your TDS over 250 PPM TDS for cherry shrimp ,best way is to buy a shrimp buffer like salty bee shrimp gh+. I f you must ,ix with tap water remember to use Prime :)

So I just got an RO unit and on the waste water line after the membrane it has a valve instead of a pressure regulator like yours. While on the RO water line before it goes into the last stage it has a pressure regulator box. But since there is no automatic pressure thing on the waster line should I just leave the valve all the way open?
@MarksShrimpTanks
@MarksShrimpTanks 7 жыл бұрын
Try it open and see how it works ,if you get a high tds reading in your good water half close the valve to add some pressure to the unit .

👍 nice video like always but u can simplefy the way u need to know how far u must drain ure tank for a certain amount of % just measure ure waterhight and divede it by 10 that amount of cm wil give u 10 % and multiply to adjust to higher % so now u know how much cm u need to drop ure waterlevel and thats it no more math needed for non rectangual tanks also

You would have to add acidic content for that.tiny amount od liquid co2 or something like Mosura PH down ..you wouldnt need much

What about bacteria /viruses/algae or what happens if you have a pipe break and your water company has to flush the pipes with chemicals to kill things and then you do a water change ? My tap water is so clean if I put it in a white bucket its blue like the blue icebergs but that doesnt mean I would fully trust that its shrimp safe ..with an RO unit I dont have to worry about those things.
