Dude, I'm in the GTA space and I find myself scraping through tutorial after tutorial to figure out how to do a basic thing, and it seems most of them lack clear explanation on how to be sufficient, comments on the workspaces, and nuances of blender...that is until I found your video. You explain it EXACTLY how it should be explained instead of 30x-ing your speed through the process and showing keystrokes in the bottom right hand corner. You do it right and for that, I'm eternally grateful!

Also. It would be soooo awesome if you made a video (or point me to a video you made) where you can assign two bump map textures. Eg: One texture would be let’s say folds of a shirt (using the normal map) The 2nd texture would be the threads which of the shirt. Thanks Ryan!

Ok, first of all, these are very informative, but I have one single, hopefully constructive, criticism: There are too many distractions from the topic of the video. Of course, these tangential things could be useful, too. But I think they don't fit in this format. For example; if someone, like me, is trying to get the basics of downloading some texture and applying it on Blender, that article you referred to about the types of normal maps is totally out of that person's interest. One or two things could be fine, but there are too many distractions, like when you explain why your shading editor looks different. I really wanted to type this message as a way of improving your style.

Understand your point, but this has obviously been designed as an in-depth explanation of how texture maps work. For me that was a huge plus as it touched on things I would never have thought of that will benefit me in future. If you’re looking for a ‘quick’ answer you need to look for a different video, the fact that it is 40 minutes long should have been your first clue. Simple things like explaining why the shader editor looks different are hugely helpful for a beginner as you compare your own screen to the one being shown, if this is not explained it could lead someone to believe they are in the wrong space. Only stating this as I believe the style of the video is perfect especially for a beginner as the title suggests.

I was getting a "no matching images found" error for Node Wrangler because my textures were not named well enough so the addon cant work them out. My base color was diffusenew or something. The Node Wrangler Addon tells you in the settings what are acceptable names so it can understand and set up your textures automatically. Wish I knew that before but Rome wasnt built in a day as they say and maybe it will save someone else some pain. Alternatively dont try and be clever like me and just download the textures Ryan uses and it will work. 😆🤣
