There has been a recent software update to also display fuel consumption numbers on the fueltech dash. With this, fuel level is included as an option. That means now to display fuel level on your dash, you must follow the method in this video but also go to the ‘map options’ tab and tick the fuel consumption check box. After that, fuel level will display on the dash.

How are you reading voltage if your sending unit is measuring resistance?

I am about to do this myself with ft550. What I don't understand is you said you ran sensor ground to one post on the fuel sender and then a line from the other fuel sender post to an input wire. How are you getting a voltage reading that way? Ur sending the sending unit ground.

Tried this method but voltage is extremely erratic, im assuming an inline resistor could "stabilize" the fluctuations. Is there a specific res i should get? Its on a Honda using the oem tank and level sensor

How well does that work while the car is moving? Does the level bounce around a lot, or does it stay relatively stable?

That procedure is basically the same for all analogue sensors (intake air temp, etc) I mean ECU manufacturers give you a bunch of default tables, but most sensors are nonlinear, and if you don't know what your oil temp sensor came out of, you'll have to calibrate it.

How do you setup the fuel level on your ecu/dash ? I never use the method of just taking resistance/voltage at empty and full, as these sender units often don’t follow a linear line, so you end up would end up with it being accurate at full and empty, but not so good in other areas. I’ve used the method outlined in this video on many other ecu’s with great success and never had to resort to using extra resistors.

DAMN not enough inputs on my FT450. Didn't see Fuel Level as input Though.

You custom make it, as per the video.

@@BroomysGarage Awesome, I had not realized you could create custom sensors in FT. Still short on inputs :( thanks for sharing !

@@SuperYellowsubmarin they now have an input expander box released today that fixes that too 😎

@@BroomysGarage awesome ! I was hoping that some CAN expansion box would exist one day.

I followed this tutorial but my reading bounces a lot. Wish I knew how to keep it stable.

If you sweep range is very small you may need to add resistors to the signal wire to increase the voltage range (i.e. if you are only say 0.3 V from full to empty, a resistor can take the range out to maybe 1.0V which means it can take some of the bounce out of it.) however it also depends on the sensor as well.
