Great video Vesper! Whats the best way to pressure a character that has an EX invincible wake up reversal. You wanna keep the pressure on them but you dont want to eat a DP in the face. Also, what is the best way to bait out a DP in a similar situation (when you have them cornered).

4:49 That explains a lot. I always thought those buttons in neutral were mostly just for stopping dashes, never knew it was also to whiff punish as well. I'm not much of a player, but SFV is my favorite spectator sport.

What you said about not adapting until your opponent does really resonated with me. I was stuck in gold for the longest time because I kept getting ahead of my opponent. I thought the way to improve my game was what I saw at the pro level. Whiff punishes, shimmies etc. Once I simplified my offense and stuck with basic frametraps and tic throws. It was an easy climb to plat.
@cardsharpHS4 жыл бұрын
You mentioned with the "high-level shimmy" explanation, that it has little use at lower ranks. I know this. You can't force the game to play the way you want at certain ranks. For example, Daigo reckons one of Kage's genuine strengths is Shakunetsu. But just try pressuring people with them at a rank where people are like frigging *jumping beans* ...

The Laura "vortex" : although most of her setups are fake and veeeeery punishable...online its borderline impossible. You can spam jab to interrupt her and it will still wont work. The best way is to literally do your best to avoid that situation and keep her away.
@VesperArcade4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sadly this is the case for a lot of characters. I literally call out loud 3-4 seconds ahead of time that Urien is going to dash on me on stream... then he does and I get counter-hit by S.MP and lose. Some characters are just meant for offline only.

I highly doubt it at this point. I'm pretty sure there was a plan for it at some point but then SFV leaned more towards the e-sports side of things.

A jump-in, throw is not a tick throw. We say tick throw because of the fast recovery attack that keeps you close and then throw. It's fast and has little block stun and is a light attack. Jumping heavy throw, ex plus move throw, v trigger activation throw ARE NOT tick throws. You can do a tick throw after an jump in. But a jump in then throw is not a tick throw. A tick throw is not just throwing an opponent when you're plus. Ex dash straight then throw is NOT a tick throw neither
@VesperArcade4 жыл бұрын
I would still consider all the situations you listed as "tick throws". A quick attack with small push back that leaves you slightly plus would be the ideal tick throw as I mentioned in the video, it's just a situation where your opponent is trapped and forced to tech or escape. Even an attack that's minus could still be considered a tick throw. I found a good explanation of it here wiki.shoryuken.com/The_King_of_Fighters_XIII/Systems/Attacking:_Throws_Throwteching#Tick_Throws .
@TheOxiongarden4 жыл бұрын
@@VesperArcade Well, I wouldn't www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tick_Throw Ever seen a tournament commentator saying "Oh, what a nice tick throw ! " after a dash straight ex or ex Zonk ? Tick throws are not only effective because they put you in throw guessing situations but also because they're extremely fast. It forces you to react by instinct. For instance, dping after a jab is difficult. That's the power of the tick throw, not just the plus thing
@Demon_Curse4 жыл бұрын
@@VesperArcade no. A minus attack can't be a tick throw. You constantly spread misinformation and lower level players eat it up. A true tick throw is +2 and has minimal pushback where you don't have to walk forward such as Karin's st.lk.

@lafave25554 жыл бұрын
I'm playing as gill also, he's a bit slower than a lot of other characters, you need to learn all the long combos and learn to parry to be really successful. Also another random tip is that VT1 removes the limit of the number of projectiles that Gill can have on screen at once so you can have a cryokinesis and a meteor strike at the same time

Just practice against the computer on diff setting 4-6. It's better that you learn these basics when the computer is doing dumb shit and still learning your inputs. Also, that pressure from losing a match needs to be on you constantly. Train yourself to want to win even when you know it's an easy match. Trust me im a juri main 😂😂😂
