Your the first step by step I have been able to understand for this project. I have a question though, I am going to be skim coating over OSB as it is the cheapest material I can find in this expensive world. Do you have a vid or pointers for doing this exact thing over OSB to achieve the exact same look?

I have lead based paint, with large electrical patches in the wall. I now want to re-finsh the wall. What is the best way to skim over Concrete patch and lead based paint? Should I: Primer + Drywall mud? Or Primer + concrete skim it, then paint?

Its a lot of work and more difficult than it looks. But with sanding and more sanding, the results are very gratifying. It was good to see that you were able to do a wall or ceiling in sections after one section dries. Large areas can be very tiring on my old shoulders.

I can’t wait to do this. Just bought a house and the texture is inconsistent on the walls. It kind of looks like it was put on with a sponge or roller and I’d rather have no texture than inconsistent weird texture. I’ve watched a few videos and your product list is very convenient. It’s starting to add up in my Lowes cart but I know it will be worth it!

Hi! Congratulations on your new house! I have the same exact problem with the inconsistent texture around my home. Also I suggest using 45 or 90 minute joint compound so that you have quick drying times with a the necessary amount of working time 🙏🏽👍🏽😊

Depends on how good you applied the mud. Beware if you sand, be careful because it generates a very fine dust.

How come you use joint compound vs an all purpose?
@HighTone45
@HighTone45 2 ай бұрын
He doesn’t know but good observation that particular compound is for just what it says for when you are doing joints I hear it’s less thick and more smoother hence why it’s called lyte, they say it sands easier than the all purpose green bucket kind personally id use the green bucket all purpose because they say it has more glue content in it

how do you decide between using a plastic drop cloth vs a paper one? i have no experience using a paper drop cloth.
@PhilosopherKing73
@PhilosopherKing73 Жыл бұрын
Plastic drop clothes are best used to protect furniture or walls, but they don’t work for floors because everything you drop on it stays wet and you eventually track the stuff all over. That’s why pro painters prefer cloth…paint quickly drys on it and they stay put without tape, plus they’re more durable. Paper is a cheaper and disposable to cloth and stays put with enough painter’s tape…hope this helps

@Sufficient4UsIsAllah
@Sufficient4UsIsAllah Жыл бұрын
You don’t need to prime the paint, especially if it’s matt. But if it’s shiny, I’d sand it down a bit for the compound filler to adhere to.
