Back foot first is definitely one of the best pieces of advice for this movement you have ever given, even though every way you teach the snatch and the C&J are perfect

I've been lifting heavier with a norrmal jerk for so long, since split jerks always felt like weird jumping lunge with a barbell overhead. The back foot first tip is a huge gamechanger. Thanks Zack!

Thanks Zack ! Have a stability problem in the catch but I'm working on it. You teaching why do all the stuff is pretty cool. I'm going to get far more confident.

These vids and walkthroughs are what I tell people to do when they ask me how to do the Olympic lifts. These are like the bible for weightlifting.

I am new to weightlifting and that speech about dip and drive really was interesting. Intuitively I would think of the dip as rapid to use the stretch-shortening cycle like a a regular jump byt then you made me think about the weight. In a jump the weight moves with you because well, you are it. But in a lift if you drop there's gonna be a distance between you and the weight so you will "increase" the weight as you said

Great tutorial - Trying those lifts made me realise how poor my shoulder girdle and wrist mobility is. I bet working on them will help relieving my fequent shoulder pain too

That tip on the grip is one of the top things I took away from the video. It’s that last little piece for me is not being on the fingers! Thanks ZT I didn’t even know what was going on there until you mentioned it.

And can be changing the front leg i mean forward right back left then change etcetera for a double for example i understand that the point is not to build your legs but i think i still good to do it both sides like every unilateral exercise

What’s the strict press-to-jerk ratio? Let’s say I can strict press 90 kg. How much should I be able to split jerk with decent technique? Thanks!
@AdStellae-10 ай бұрын
You should press 70-75% of your push press, and in turn push press 75-85% of your jerk. So with a 90 kg strict press you should be able to jerk around 167.
@09thespecialone8 ай бұрын
It’s usually around 0,65 of your max squat. Press and jerk ratio is irrelevant because there’s no correlation between the two lifts. Jerking is mostly about leg strength. The rest is technique. If you want to increase your jerk, increase your squat and master the technique.

Do not do weightlifting without WL shoes.
@rustysausage6910 ай бұрын
Proper full-movement technique without heals is a recipe for elite numbers. Typically, people are limited to “power” movements without heals because full squat depth cant be achieved, ESPECIALLY with snatch.
@slamrock1710 ай бұрын
@@BUMPER_PLATE_BANDIT I went ass to grass 315 for 6 reps 3 days ago at 180 lbs bodyweight. My calves look way bigger than anyone who lifts in heels. Look at Clarence Kennedy he doesn't wear heels. 👠

@@slamrock17 yea but those are squats. This is a weightlifting video the split jerk isnt a squat. If you do split jerks or weightlifting in non WL shoes you aren’t gonna get far.
