Do you know what UK version of Splinter Cell will work with the Xbox patch? I have literally looked everywhere for the title in your video & that version of the game is only available abroad. As I mentioned 2 days ago, the only version which keeps popping up on eBay UK is Pandora Tomorrow.

Another great tutorial. The wifi repeater was sooo clutch. I have actually been wondering how I can connect my consoles ethernet, cause my consoles are not close to my router. The repeater doubled the speed of my filezilla transfers vs. being on wifi on my ps3! I have been sitting on a unmodded xbox for sometime and this video was the motivation I needed to get it done, thanks!

The max speeds for ftp is 12MB/s. I usually get 11.3 on average. I've found that UnleashX and Filezilla give the best speeds. FlashFXP is also good. FatXplorerBeta3 is the way to go for large transfers though, when you upgrade your hdd.

Did you end up upgrading the hdd? I did it years ago and it was tricky But I think the latest software, etc allows for most hdds to work if you were to do it today, etc

I just tried the new Endgame method last week which doesnt even require the Sprinter Cell game or any game or dvd disk at all, just a USB flash drive with some special files on it. It's easier than ever now.

You can install games directly into the xbox hard drive through ftp. If you have a lot of games you can also increase the hard drive size

I soft modded my original XBox with Splinter Cell back on college but used one tne Actiom Replay memory card kit to get the save files on a memory card. Lost that memory card ages ago so know I can buy an adapter cable is great news. Not sure if my original XBox has succumb to capacitor leakage. It's stick on a box in one of my storage areas and getting to it would be difficult

I had 2 Xbox systems softmodded before but a problem persisted on both of them. One of them, the Crystal Xbox I had for a few years now, got the Error 16 message displayed on screen which is the Date and Time error code and considering the Crystal Xbox was manufactured in 2005, the clock capacitor would need to be taken out so it can bypass that Date and Time screen to the Dashboard. However, I got that Error I think because I tried to reset the Xbox back to default with the MS Dashboard and everything, basically uninstalling the softmod to make it normal again and the Error happened. The other Xbox I had that I softmodded was a 2004 Xbox. The clock capacitor's still in there but I haven't tried resetting the Xbox back to normal or anything, what it had done though last month was that it stopped turning on. I think something happened maybe with the power supply or something relating to it that it wasn't turning on anymore. So soon, I'll be trying to move that motherboard into the Crystal Xbox shell (along with the Hard Drive) cause I know that power supply still works and see if it will turn on. Do you know if there's an easy way of removing the clock capacitor if one hasn't taken a capacitor out of a board before? I'm sure just yanking it out with pliers isn't ideal. And if you're curious, I do have a 2002 Xbox that I use daily with the Chimeric HD cable and I'm keeping that normal (no softmod) so I can play the games just fine.

I may edit this comment as I add more too it First and foremost, you speaking of a soft or hard modded system? You'll need an 80 wire 40 pin IDE cable, and I'd **highly** recommend the Startech IDE2SATA over the cheap alternatives. The max size being soft modded is **basically** 2TB. If you're hard modded and using Cerbios, up that to... ~~16~~ 8TB? Regarding compatibility, you can [Refer to This List](xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list). If your drive isn't listed, I'd wager you won't have an issue. Generally, the HDDs to avoid in particular are 2.5" laptop oriented mechanical HDDs, and Western Digital 'Green'. Power saving features of these can sometimes cause issues. I also research whether a mechanical drive is CMR or SMR. Far as mechanical vs SSD goes, nothing is definitive. Some SSD users claim less 'pop in' on few select titles. Others point out how OG Xbox's don't have TRIM support for said SSDs. Just pick a side - the price per gb isn't as it used to be. I've got two personal systems with both.. The output modification is basically just installing HDMI kzbin.info/www/bejne/npKWZYKNqbGDY8ksi=PRkhMznZGJlDdEKU. As for the games, they could be corrupt?

Damn. I literally just sold my copy of splinter cell. And a few other games. I really want to put like 100+ games on my original xbox. All on a usb. I have 2 dozen discs. Halo, Robotech Invasion, Republic Commando Etc. I recently saw my friend did this to his PS2 & i so want it for the xbox. Edit: So Question. Once its modded, can i just put digital copies of any game i want on my xbox? Like I wouldn't need to buy the discs.

You most definitely can. You can actually upgrade your hard drive size as well to fit emulated games as well as your original xbox games

This tutorial is now out of date, with the new "Endgame" exploit there is no longer a need for exploit games. Just copying the endgame exploit (and the payload) to a compatible USB, then go into the memory card in the Memory section of the dashboard, it will automatically run the tool. Though they haven't put it out for Rocky5 or any other modding tools just yet, the new Xbox Live service, Insignia already makes use of the new exploit EDIT: Rocky5 has been updated with the new exploit

This is my first time modding an OG Xbox. How come the USB flash drive you recommend Is 512 MB? I'm not sure how big Xbox OG games are to begin with, but 512 MB is... not a lot. I'm only modding this so I can play games off of a hard drive/flash drive/whatever, because Xbox OG disc drives are notoriously faulty. I would like to have a bunch of games/mods/DLC packs/whatever on one flash drive/hard drive, but like I said, seems like the recommended flash drive doesn't hold a lot.

512mb is all it reads. This isn't like a Wii where you can just put your games on an external hard drive. To my knowledge, the only way is to upgrade the hard drive of the Xbox itself to a bigger size and transfer your games directly to that

You won't be able to fit anything on that drive lol why would you want to play on anything that small? The Xbox I believe has at least 8 GB of HDD space. So you can store 8 GB worth of games internally until you upgrade your hard drive

I’m so dumb. I’ve done this before but this time I accidentally removed the disk before clicking ok, causing it to restart too soon while in the softmod screen. Now it’s bricked, only will boot to blank gray screen. I can get it to go into splintercell but will freeze 100% after clicking checkpoints. Guess I’m screwed?

Do you have access to a DVD burner? I think the only way you're going to be able to fix this is if you burn the extras disc and run it. Can you boot up other games too? The soft mod may have completed, but you shut it off too early. So reinstalling it through the extras Disc might help if you can boot discs.

Make sure you have a zipping program like winrar installed. to highlight things, which is what it sounds like your trying to do you can hold "ctrl" and click the spots you want to highlight. Or just drag your mouse. You are either in a Pal region, which doesn't allow HD modes, or you're still using a Composite video cable. If you're in a Pal region, you would have to mod the console and switch regions to NTSC. On Rocky's softmod, you simply go into the Nkpatcher Settings, which is installed as an App by default during the softmod process, and switch from Pal to NTSC. If you're in an NTSC region, you need either Component cables or a quality hdmi adapter. Getting a cheapo composite to hdmi converter will look horrible, dont recommend it. The Electron Shepherd Xbox2hdmi or the Xedusa+ are good options. I use the Chimeric hdmi adapter but he's out for health reason for a while. I would get the Xedusa+ if you dont have a v1.0, which it has issues with hdmi audio apparently. The Xedusa+ has dual outputs though, so if you are v1.0, you can use hdmi for video, and component for audio. If you open the xbox up and see a tiny fan on a heatsink, have a single row psu connector, and a daughter board for the controller ports, you have a v1.0 Dont enable 1080i, the system just isnt strong enough to constantly run it, and only a handful of games run it, 720p looks just fine.

@@BelowAverageGaming yes, also when I run the soft modding tool extra disc when it read bios it says “hacked bios detected” . This console was a coma console before I soft modded it, so I had to solder a wire under the board to jump it from another bios. Perhaps that’s why it doesn’t work. It’s just the sound effects in the main screen where I get no audio.

You can disassemble the xbox and gently rub the dvd laser with a qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Also, clean the rubber band with soapy water and then boil it for 30 seconds to reform it. If this doesnt fix it, you can always get another xbox for cheap online that's listed as-is, parts only, and swap dvd drives out. You may get lucky and not have to modchip it.

There is an exploit that doesn’t require a game anymore
