Yep! I suspect most people have far fewer friends than they realize, if any at all. Once I started really paying attention, my friends counter dropped from 3 to NONE. I recently became acquainted with two people who, without prompting, would mention every now and then what a great friend I was. I live alone. No transportation. No contact with any living thing, not so much as a goldfish for company. I’d mentioned a few times how lonely and depressed I got occasionally. Not one call. Not one visit. Not one invite to hang out. If your “friends” know that you are struggling emotionally, and they NEVER visit or invite you over, then (SPOILER) they aren’t your friends. Dropped ‘em like the dead weight they were.

I feel the same way also, especially feeling depression and anxiety and stress .no one calls no text and no invite reality I just came to agreement that I am just lonely . Loneliness is dangerous.. people always thinking about themselves reality how it's be at time.

They have such an ego that they want you to do all the WORK and arrange coming over to their place. Thank God I have no longer have people like that in my life anymore! (But I had to fight a little to get there)

Had to deal with this last year. I kept noticing that this person would always plan things and flake out the day that it was supposed to happen. When I'd had enough of their BS, they claimed that they had to go to the hospital because they had a stroke. Being the truly kind hearted person that I am, I gave them the benefit of the doubt & apologized (for the sake of being the bigger person). When I got to explaining to them that this was a common occurrence action that they were doing, they got defensive & upset at my telling them about this. Needless to say, I stopped dealing with them & my life couldn't have been any better.

I can relate to this. It’s like I always would jump and agree to meeting up then I get a text that she wanted to cancel and not to come. It’s been a repeated occurrence as well. I used to initiate things, but she would always say no so I just stopped initiating all together. I understand during most cases it could be an emergency or etc.. or you might not be up to it I get it, but why invite someone if that’s the case you knew before hand.

I want to also add that I had a fake friend be there only when I failed and was there to see me suffer. Secretly glad to see me fail like when I lost my job or got a divorce. She appeared to have my back when I was down but was faking it.

Try not to feel too bad cause you are not the problem if they don't want to be with you they are like weeds let them go. A teacher I had many years ago told us something I never forgot he said in your whole life you will be fortunate if you have 5 true friends. Never forgot that. I am 70 yrs old now and find it absolutely true. The others are just fair weather friends.

I really liked your video common how you described it fake friend, and how to spot them. Obviously, this world is full of fake people, no question about it. And I think one of the biggest reason's for that is because of the "Survival Of The Fittest" mentality. I read an article that talks about people who have that survivalist mentality, and the traits they share in common; which I'm going to quote here, and all I ask is that you please read it, and tell me what you think. Thank you! "Have you noticed people who live by the survival of the fittest theory? Irrespective of the demographics or socioeconomic background they come from, there are some commons traits and behaviors they seem to display which is not only remarkably consistent, but also clearly distinguishable. These are some I have noticed. They cant make meaningful friendships: Forget friendships, many cant even make meaningful relationships with siblings. Since people who live by this theory always have to be better than the crowd, anyone part of it is a competition. And because of this, no one can be a true a friend. Most people they know are only accomplices that can come in handy for the pursuit of goals. They are mostly comfortable, but highly stressed too: Again, this is a result of meaningless comparisons and pointless pursuits. Since the world can only take a “few” survivors, wanting to survive is a need that results in (mostly) pointless analysis. They don’t trust easily: Actually, this could have been the first point. In fact, it is this trait that results in point 1. They play their cards close to their chest: Since they hardly trust anyone, they have no choice but to play their cards close to their chest. Sometimes, it can be so apparent that even an innocuous, question like “when do you generally leave from work?” would be replied with a suspicious “why do you ask this?” question. But, at the far end, they would not mind taking favors from the same people though. They have an apparent scarcity mindset: Try asking them to part with something they own, and you will know this. Even if they know its hardly useful, they just can’t part with what is theirs. They just don’t mind passing the buck: Forget “not minding” passing the buck, some would have even mastered this art. In many cases, they might even take credit for what they don’t deserve, but not take responsibility for anything close to failure. What they live by is a substitute of what they live for: Everyone has ambitions which results from life goals and we make some compromises to achieve them, but people who have the survivor mindset actually don’t seem to have any true “no-no’s” for themselves. The only no-no would probably be not compromising on their goals. Whatever said and done, survival of the fittest mindset people also have their own moments and pursuits of happiness. But mostly, their happiness would be a derivative of what comforts they can possibly possess." Now on a personal note, after having quoted the article, I have to say that the place where I think these types of people can mostly be observed, is in the party scene. I'm not saying that all people in the party scene are fakes, not at all. But the point is that so many of them are, and yet what I have noticed is that there seems to be some sort of connection between them, and to be honest with you I have never been able to figure it out. From what I have observed, both in the party scene, and in the world in general, is that people are merely just looking out for themselves, yet I have noticed that in some way they still share a connection of sorts. And maybe I'm an idiot for even saying this, but I have NEVER been able to figure out what that connection is, or how to tap into it; so to speak. And I've always tried to be the best person that I can be, which is essentially being a do-gooder. That's just who I am, and I'm not ashamed to say that I strive to be a true friend, because I do.

Hi!!! I just stumbled across your video funny thing is I wasn't even looking for this particular topic, but now I'm glad I did! I've known this so called friend of mines for 14 yrs now, and I've noticed 3 times I invited her somewhere she had excuses for all 3× 2 of them was my baby shower, and to my daughter's 2nd birthday party recently, mind u we live an 1hr away, but that shouldn't be an excuse if she suppose to be my true friend. I've noticed that she doesn't even want to come out to my house and it's been 5yrs since I've moved before then it was convenient because we only lived 20 mins away from each other oh and she text me and said since me and my daughter can't make it to your party I'm still going to buy your daughter a birthday gift so I said ok, but I'm not expecting it. It's been 3 weeks now no call no text smh. I'm not even mad at her just disappointed than anything.

She was always close by too up until a certain date (still close enough now though). Never the one to bother contacting.
