That is what I don't like being stuck to one subject. Many artists, like me like to work with different types of art.
@claireonlinex4 жыл бұрын
Sticking to one subject could be your downfall. As a consumer I get bored when an artist doesn't switch it up, it gets boring. All the greats like Picasso, Kanye, Beyonce all had the ability to transform themselves not stick to one style/ subject like she suggested
@VeryPrivateGallery4 жыл бұрын
chiMarkgames You can surely work with different media and sell on different platforms, but you must be willing to build one brand first. Without the main business, it’s hard to get enough exposure, traffic to make enough money. It’s like Inditex made Zara super famous, then they made other brands.
@Nyoi17184 жыл бұрын
You can easily switch up your medium, being a consumer and seller of art Ive noticed once you build up a style and fanbase, the quality of your work will be more important and loved by your fanbase then style you're doing it in. So have fun and experiment...doing the same thing over and over again gets old.

I don’t know if I’d take advice from this video. I started painting during quarantine and I use Instagram to sell my paintings. I only started selling them recently I’ve made just over $200, one of those paintings is on its way to America and sold within 30 minutes of me putting it up for sale. I also don’t stick to one style. I’m very much into abstract painting but I like to do cartoon-y landscapes here and there as well. I strongly believe in creating what YOU love, and people who connect with your art will find you and love you/your style enough to continue following you. It just depends on how good you are at executing your content and marketing as to how quickly you grow your following.

I think the most successful ppl have tackled many different mediums (art, music, acting, etc) but it really comes down to if you want to put in all that work to keep it all alive. I personally feel really chaotic with what I create because my creative mind takes many different routes so I feel you. But you can still continue with different kinds of art with out posting EVERYTHING you do on one platform. It may actually be better to keep them on separate accounts to attract followers on social media. The algorithm is real in that sense. Also trying to take this advice for myself. It shouldn't have to be that way but its hard to gain a following without a clear statement of who you are and what you have to provide to ppl.

I'm an artist by blood, meaning artistic ability runs in my family. My father was an amazing landscape & portrait artist... he never sold his work because he was not concerned with that, but people constantly asked him how much would he sell "this" piece for or "that" piece for? I'm also a self-published author, and I have books in multiple genres (Sci-Fi, Poetry, Dystopian, Urban-Drama), and let me tell you... I have more success with my books & my art by working in multiple genres. If sticking to one genre works for you, then do that, but that doesn't work for everyone and it limits your audience. Some of my art fans don't care for my abstract paintings, but they love my landscapes, some of my book fans don't care for my sci-fi, but they love my poetry books, but I would have lost those landscape & poetry lovers if I had stuck to one genre. Then I have my commissions, who have ideas & visions that push me to push myself & when I do it and see the look on their faces, I'm wow! I did that sh*t! So I could never see myself in just one genre or niche. It's the same with my merch too; I do a calendar that does pretty good every year and I just started prints & decorative coffee mugs. Ok, this is much longer than I planned (the writer in me is coming out), but overall the video still hits some very key points, provides good insight, and I still subbed! The link to my website is below if you want to check it out! fkennethart.com/

As an artist I would say finding your style or preferred medium/ product list is more of a journey. While finding a strict subject base and limited structure works well for some people who want to fill a narrow scope and produce a very specific product, others have a wider range of artistic ability and inspiration which can only be satisfied by exploring many different paths and approaches. When building an audience its fine to have a variety of content/skills, what's important is tying everything together with a common theme. Do what you love, try different things and experience the vast possibilities art enables, incorporate those experiences into what you love and grow. Its great to have a goal and a passion but remember its not about the destination so much as it is about the journey itself.

LOVE this video, especially the business module ( I definitely need to focus on that before launching my art online). However the whole one niche, has come as a surprise because I like to be creative in different areas (depending on ideas that come to mind). But overall thank you for this video extremely helpful!

This is an incredibly helpful video! I’m going to be applying a lot of your advice soon, seeing that I’m graduating in April. The information about Business Plans/Models was especially helpful honestly; very well delivered. Thank you for the time you spent to put this together, Melissa! Can’t wait to see more~

The one niche thing didn’t stick to me. I paint with what I’m feeling at moment, it could be landscape, abstract, minimalism or flower bouquets with deep details. Different people like different things, why do I need to make clear that I’m “one type painter person” when I can do all of them? More options make it more fun tbh ^^ Good video though

This definitely appeals to someone who wants to build a business. Not only do I make music on the side, I also write, so the one niche idea has already driven me mad my whole life. When I've decided to only create art or only music or only words on paper, I have been an extremely unhappy camper because all my abilities need expression. If the goal is to make a living, that's the way to go, though.

Super cool video, I’m a self taught mixed media landscape artist I spent a lot of time finding my style, I’ve yet to put my work up for sale because I’ve been hesitant mainly due to not knowing how to make that move. This video is inspiring it fills me with the confidence that I can do what I love as a job one day so I just want to say thank you and stay blessed. 🙂
