I like that drill because it’s simple and has instant feedback if you do it incorrectly. Just wish golf season wasn’t basically done until April so I could see if it helps. Always trying to get away from the 2 way miss and I think this could help. Thanks Mark!

Definitely trying the 2-3 club drill at range tonight. Struggling so hard to lay the club down to shallow it out at the start of down swing.
@paulkerry55836 жыл бұрын
This is genius and so simple. I've been given the idea of throwing the club out more with my right hand (like skinning a stone), but this elbow thing seems much easier, as with the hand thing I can still pull down and over power the club. Got a lesson today so gonna see what they say. Thanks Mark ☺⛳

Hi, great vid. Literally been working on this. However what seemed to work for me was to set the backswing roughly on the plane I wanted the downswing to be. Reason is because the action of trying to ‘lay down the club’ wasn’t working for me and couldn’t hit the ball. Feeling like the club is already on that ‘plane’ so to speak in the backswing meant I just had to retrace. Worked a dream. To practice I use a mirror/glass to make sure club is crossing below my shoulder/bicep on backswing and downswing. So far so good.

Hi Mark, Im curious, have you seen any Mike Malaska teaching? His concepts of countering the momentum of the clubhead on the way down seems to make more sense to me. If you go to the top and stop, begin to turn your hips, the clubhead wants to keep falling back down behind you. With tth eclubhaead behind, it would require a flip to get the face to the ball. It makes more sense to me, and ive achieved a ton of success with, the concept of countering the momentum of the clubhead by "stackign the shaft". Its not so much stacking as it is "turning the wheel". When you combine hip turn (and the moment of the club wanting to fall behind you) with the "stack" (countering the momentum of the club falling behind you), the clubhead drives right into the ball when you return your hands to the address position. Thoughts? Questions? Comments?

I like that. Gonna drill that on the range. My issue feels like a shoulder/upper back flexibility issue even though Im always stretching. My other hobby is weight lifting so they sometimes contradict each other. Much easier with 2 clubs but the weight of one club is easy to "fight". I've improved a ton with these videos but do notice I have to consciously resist the urge to "muscle" the shot to let the club fall and come around. Hope to see more of these fixes in between the journey class. Hell of a view by the way. Great video Mark!

I've found that practicing a Ryan Moore or Furyk type takeaway has helped me feel the weight of the club and automatically shallows on its own in transition. Weird but it actually is starting to feel natural. Now just need to incorporate this feeling into a less exaggerated takeaway and square the clubface with the wrists over the ball.

I have the exact same problem!. Does swing thought apply to every club? i.e Driver- wedge Thx brah!
@kjexen6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark. I have a similar problem with standing the club up in my downswing. Play of hcp 1, so manage to play with it, but do suffer from the pull on occasion. The drill you are showing is good, but hard to work in to the swing. Myself, im left handed, but play right handed. So my feeling is that my left arm is dominating the swing, and its my left arm that pulls the club down towards the impact zone. That often leads to me standing the club up. Any thoughts?

Great drill bruh I suffer from this on the downswing also and have searched many times for a drill to help, very helpful thanks Mark 👍⛳️🏌🏽♂️

Mark, since the heavier clubs make it easier to drop behind you, should we players try to play the heaviest heads we can handle if struggling from coming over the top? Like would it help if I usually play a driver that’s D2 and then switch to a D4 or D5?

Great drills mark will have to give these a go. I have the same issue i lose my irons to the right of target but have a closed clubface at the top of the backswing with a slight over the top into impact. Would you advise to try to change the position of the clubface to a more neutral angle? Like what dans is when he is at the top of his backswing on here. Or stick to my natural closed face at the top and keep working on coming more from inside as i was about to practise over the winter on changing my swing to a more neutral clubface at the top. Keep up the great work!

I don't really know how to ask you a question directly. I'm a 9 handicap that struggles greatly we a driver. I hit great drives on the driving range with no wild pull hooks. But when I play, I'm plagued withe occasional pull hook or push when trying to correct it. I'm guessing I just tense up and it's in my head. Do you have any suggestions on why this happens or how to correct it other than I'm just mental. I'm so much more confident with other clubs and it drives me crazy that I struggle with a driver. Especially when I hit it so well on the driving range.

If you start your backswing by turning your hips .....or if you are not flexible even sliding them slightly and returning your weight towards your front foot, you will generate lag and also drop the club rather than stack it......

You ever tried - Penamillorn Peerless Prevalence - (just google it ) ? It is a smashing one off product for discovering how to learn an effective golf swing method minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got great success with it.

Just out of interest why do people always try to coach you to a draw?I have a repeatable fade and generally have a squared face at impact yet 3 different pros have tried coaching me out of it and destroyed my swing each time.I can't hit a draw and I don't mind aslong as I'm hitting the short grass
@oliverperkins14036 жыл бұрын
Darren Terry if you have a repeatable shot then why r u going to a coach to change it anyway?
@shaggy43446 жыл бұрын
@@oliverperkins1403 I was having lessons and every one of them tried coaching it out of me until I went to the latest pro.We went in the simulator and he told me it was repeating through the course of a couple of lessons.I don't understand it but I was less than a degree open to path over 20 balls and he told me to embrace it.I've only been playing a year so need consistency
@Kjelerby6 жыл бұрын
Darren Terry I don’t think he’s trying to coach a draw. I have the same pull fade tendencies as this golfer (almost identical backswing) and my coach went Marks route. He figured if my face is staying controlled and closed, why not try and move path and see if it the face remains closed. A draw just happens to be the result. I’m sure if he complained of left and right misses he might have addressed his face control first.
@deadlymantis42106 жыл бұрын
Not that you need or wanting it coached out of you, but imagine how your game would improve if you could play both shots..🤔

@@deadlymantis4210 eventually I'd like to be able to play both and you're right it would be a massive advantage but I've only been playing just over a year and I'm off 26 so for now hitting the short grass is what it's all about for me lol
