My husband calls me an overthinker whenever I express my concerns about anything. I started thinking this was a mental sickness I had. For every thought I had that was slightly stressful I would wonder if it was a valid thought or the overthinker in me being paranoid. It ruined my peace. I started overthinking about overthinking. Diagnosing yourself or being diagnosed with such things casually by others affects you. Thanks for this video

Thank you Doctor, you are awesome !! Sometimes not knowing the cause of the problem is the biggest problem. By connecting the dots between Prefrontal Cortex and Limbic system, you have very clearly explained the root cause. I have always heard people saying write down the problem that is bothering you but never I was told why it needs to be written down. Your reasoning as to how the PFC takes charge makes absolute sense. This video is so helpful and useful and thank you for your service 😊

Hi Siddharth! I completed your introduction to neuroscience course and found it immensely useful. Basics of neuroscience would be even more empowering if you learn it at a young age. So my question is how to introduce it to children? What is the optimal age to start and what exactly will make sense to them. If you plan to conduct a course on this, I would love to enrol my children. Or if you conduct a course for teachers and parents that would be great too! Also I am curious to know about the neuroscience of jealousy. Not wrt relationships. I mean in situations like when someone does better than you at work or earns more than you. Although it makes no sense, the feelings do come up and I would love to know why. Thanks in advance. Your content is moving mountains! Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

when overthinking was converted to panic attack it felt so horrible... it feels like I'm the one who is suffering from this problem everyone are so happy and healthy 😢 my problem is when I've to go out for a important work i got panic attacks i cant even stand on my feet, quickly I've to lie down on the bed if i dont it leads me to vomiting,i cant even eat before going outside and also i cant eat food outside 😢 i tried a lot but i couldn't solve my problem 😭 but when i was alone for going outside i can calm myself,, when i go out with my family members or family friends i cant calm myself 😢 and another most problematic think is you cant even tell anyone, if you do to your parents first they will think you're joking, if they believe in you they'll think you're too weak as compare to others same goes for friends and all😖

Am a bedridden man of 77 years and I cannot raise myself when required to sit up. These are 3 eye opening things I learned from this: Why Meditation works ? Because it calms your limbic and lets Prefrontal cortex be active. Why Journalling works ? Writiing out your thoughts require PFC to be active. So hence now PFC can solve that problem. Why we Procrastinate while Overthinking? Our brain tricks us into thinking we are doing something productive by overthinking our life to sort it out. But taking Action solves this problem immediately.

Hello Sid, I don’t completely agree to your point that overthinking happens only due to fear. It can happen for other reasons like if someone betrays you or someone humiliates you and you cannot question or confront that person. Basically those thoughts are filled with anger, hurt, helplessness which are detrimental to our own mental and physical wellbeing. Physiologically speaking…how can we avoid such useless thoughts? Any advise?
