What hurts the most is that when you're finally happy, your mind will immediately think that "the happiness won't last long and you will be sad right after so DON'T be too happy or it'll hurt you more" and straight up imagining negative thoughts and stuffs to change your mood really fast.

heyy. u know I used to feel the same way, and one thing I did that changed my whole mindset on this is thinking "yeah I look good, I don't blame them for looking. my outfit is super nice" everytime I go out, I would feel confident in what I'm wearing, and that would change my whole perspective on things. because know its hard, but you shouldn't care about what other ppl think of u. if you internally feel good, that radiates, and other ppl see that confidence too. Today my therapist said something interesting: when we don’t understand something we create an answer for it. Hours later I started overthinking about something and realized I was using the mechanism she mentioned and it makes perfect sense. I am a muslim, in the last few years i have been behaving the way you live, meaning i am a muslim and i was forgot my creator that time"god" , i was listening to music, i was doing bad things like "meeting girls". , I tried to solve every problem I encountered normally "alone" but I couldn't. I was like that too and still am it was a non stop for like 2 years and I got really depressed lost so many friends, and no motivation for school, and I just wanted to give up. But I started working out and it felt much better, and I was spending a lot of time alone, but socializing in the internet. So now its much better. But remember just work out and eat healthy u will be ok trust.m! Stay strong! I love you all!

Don't stress mate. It's called Intrusive thoughts. Everyone has them, it's just the amount of attention that you choose to give to it that makes it different for you. I'm going through the same thing right now. Thoughts aren't reality and I always think that if I pay too much attention to it, I could actually go mentally insane, but you just have to find closure and after doing so, you can try ignore the thoughts now that you've attended to them and you've solved it. You won't see changes immediately but keep trying 🌻✊

NikkieH14 well, this is the reason I have been watching this, although it may not seem like I have had a reason to overthink, it’s just the way I process it and I know it’s not very normal but hey I have to fight it instead of constantly ask myself “why did I become this person or start thinking so deeply about things?” It’s the only way to stop my overthinking and I play sports and I know I can be great but sometimes I let the negativity get to me and it’s terrible. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Let change happen. When taking a walk, sitting in a park, when reading, before sleep etc observe your breath sensations. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Reduce negative social media. I overthink pretty much everything about myself. As soon as someone I care about gives me a sign that I did something wrong or act like they think I’m annoying I start overthinking and think the worst case scenario. This tiny little sign can actually just be that my friend is having a bad day, but it can haunt me for like a month and eventually I start thinking that it’s something wrong with me and that I should change myself. This often happens when I start getting intimate relationships with people. As soon as they act just a little bit different than they use to I start looking after flaws on myself, both on my outside and my inside. I wish I could be happy and confident about myself and stop worrying so much about what everyone thinks about me, I mean I know that not everyone can love me, but my brain and anxiety doesn’t want to know that.

+Kath Cohn maybe you need to learn how to identify REAL “danger´s” (you can ask people who care for help) and decide if the fear is appropriate / acceptable or not- (mostly it´s not as dramatic as our imagination make´s it up to be) -and it can also be the case that your balance between negative and positive thinking needs to be fixed, so you need to focus a lot more on the positive*, this will be easier when your anxious mind is taken care of (= you are also learning to identify REAL risks/dangers.) *so realy try to search for more positive things of course there is no instead change by tomorrow, but certainly after a feew weeks (make some notes or take a picture if you realy want to change something) :)

Yeah I'll do something, or text something, regret it... and then if there isn't a reply, or something, I blame myself and I think that they're thinking "That guy is weird and a loser. Who says that?" But in reality, it's not as serious as I think it is. It's usually just a Shrug your shoulders type of thing. But I y overthinking is really hard on me. I need to learn to just "stop caring?" And I eagerly waited for the frst thought to arrive.. My thought which came was "And I immediately realised... That I'm in the moment , what to do NOW " Im glad, that the moment I became self aware ,and wanted to completely switch off my mind.. , is the exact moment automatically my mind gave me the right thought for the present ... i believe u don't have to ignore yur mind. Just shape it to work according to you. You know what I did now.. Searched for these videos and became even more aware .

Try to be little better of yourself than yesterday yourself . Not to be better than others. Small change of yourself . For example , If ur friend read a book once a day and u don't read at all, try to read one sentence of anything any article for one day. So u are better than yesterday . Try to increase slowly by increase it by 2 sentences after 2 months. U will read one book per day eventually . Don't compare yourself with others. Compare yesterday yourself with today yourself

For example , if you see a person crying , think why person is not crying but not why is he crying . If you see someone rich, think what happen if he is poor. For the last few years I have been surrounded by people who have personalities that are difficult for me to deal with. Interaction with them on a regular basis is unavoidable, and it has eroded my sense of self-worth because their natural tendency is to be critical of everything and do not easily appreciate or acknowledge my accomplishments. I was an overthinker to begin with, but recently it has gotten out of hand with me second guessing everything I do, and devaluing my own opinion, interests and achievements. I always act like everything is fine, I laugh, smile, give compliments to others, while thinking about crazy things nobody would expect me to imagine. Everybody always tells me I have a "perfect" life. But no, nobody knows I am a maladaptive thinker. Everyday I think about going to the therapist, but that isn't easy. will you stop spurting out spiritual bullshit and give these people some advice they can walk away with? No matter the reason for your overthinking, be it: anxiety/social anxiety/some type of mania/OCD/ADHD/Autism... whatever it is, THERE IS NO QUICK FIX, everyone is looking for the quick and easy way to do everything, it doesn't exist, you have to put in the work and with this type of thing, there is no..... just stopping it, the closest would probably be medication which you'll get from a doctor, not a youtube video..... the other, is just finding coping mechanisms, the other day I woke up and looked at the time ....5:47AM (I can also intensely remember numbers, I think due to Autism) I never fell back asleep, I just kept on thinking and thinking and thinking, when I looked up at the clock again it was noon, I had been laying there, eyes open, just thinking for 6 hours!!!!! 6 long bloody hours I was thinking and it never even crossed my mind that I was just laying there, thinking and that I should get up and do anything, one of my coping mechanisms is talking to someone about what's on my mind (as hard as it is sometimes) that gets it out of my head, not saying this works for everyone but the only way to cope with this kind of thing is to find your own coping mechanisms, whether it's talking to some, doing the opposite, keeping yourself mentally or physically busy, taking sleeping pills to stop it affecting your night time sleep, you have to put in the work and stop looking for an easy way out.......... be brave and face your problems!!!!!!

I was like that too and still am it was a non stop for like 2 years and I got really depressed lost so many friends, and no motivation for school, and I just wanted to give up. But I started working out and it felt much better, and I was spending a lot of time alone, but socializing in the internet. So now its much better. The other different pain is that when you're finally happy about something, your mind immediately tells you to stop being too happy or the sadness that would overtake will hurt you so much. I constantly overthink every little thing it gets so bad that I shake and struggle breathing. It sometimes causes me to have suicidal thoughts that I'm overcoming day by day. I’m on my high school’s varsity tennis team, and I know I’m good at the game, but my biggest weakness is my own mind. I overthink plays, I overthink my opponent, I overthink the game, and I lose to players I know are below my skill level. It’s been the same way for 3 years, and I finally want to make a change. I want to fix my anxiety and turn my biggest opponent into my most supportive teammate. To anyone else battling this, good luck and may we all conquer our minds going forward.

Nithya......I think u can do something about this by applying this simple trick....just ask urself ...what(.&...y...) m i thinking about...is it necessary .....or its bullshit.....then u will start gaining control on ur thoughts ....whenver u fell m so lost in thoughts....just remmember the trick 😊

Extreme overthinker here, seeking to help myself and rid my overthinking mind of the negative thoughts that I for a fact know aren't all real and tend to be an inflation of a nonexistent problem. I haven't figured out how, but what I do know is that you can control your thinking. You absolutely need to focus on what you're currently doing. I find that if I focus on exercise, or I focus on my sport, my drawing, my eating.. I don't overthink and I especially don't think negatively. I just focus on what I'm doing at that moment. Even better if I can do any of these things with other people (which is why team sports are so effective for me) But the question begs, what if I can't do anything? What if I'm just about to sleep and all the ideas come flying or I'm really bored and have nothing to do.. What then? Personally... I haven't figured this one out myself... What I try to do at least is think of a scenario. Make my own script where I make my own choices... and then I found that things can still go haywire, especially if I go a little too out of character (I'm picturing myself how I was and how I wanna be again and it feels so different from the shell of a person I am now, that it feels too fake...) That's when I decided to create a new character. A person like me, but not me. Give him some of my characteristics and give him characteristics I desire. For example, now I wanna be better at school, achieve more, but I Procrastinate... I'm a hard worker but I can't find myself engaging as much anymore... Might be burnout... Now I tamper with that character trait. I make it less for him. So now he procrastinates less than I do, couple that with me working hard when I want to and he can actually find himself doing the work and doing better at school. It's a simple concept, but I make him feel so much like myself, while not being me, that I can place myself in his shoes. If it was me, it would feel like a lie, but seeing as it's a replication... I feel I could be this guy. Could have his confidence and his ability to focus. That helps me to actively be more like him. See the world in his perspective and sooner or later I'll adapt to be like him then I'll just make someone newer and better. Because like it has been said: "There will always be someone better than you" at anything. I can be the best pilot, but I won't be the best sailor. I've went on for long enough. While no one may read this, that wasn't the point of the comment. For me the point was to get the thoughts out of my head and breathe. I mean that's another way to stop overthinking. Stop keeping your thoughts to yourself. Let them out, let them breathe and after you have done that, breathe yourself.

Omg exactly what happens to me, I start overthinking especially at night when the most subtle things happen. I hear a sound, I start thinking about the worst things that could happen and sometime I get sweaty or my heart beats so so fast. Just exhausting but I hope u know ur not alone

Remember that worries are always worse at night. Often the same thought isn’t as troubling in the daytime because there are other things and distractions happening around you.At night, all we have is the darkness and our thoughts.

my friends make me feel so conscious and insecure about myself. i really want to let go of them and find friends that will support me. its hard because im forced to interact with them on a daily basis. i cant bear it anymore. their words affect me too much and they know it. they use it to hurt me. i dont want to be with them anymore. i try not to care but i care too much. its hard. but im thankful i found this video it really really helps.

Now i'm blessed with a wonderful group of supportive, loving, caring friends. Believe me, you're better off alone than with someone who hurts you.

they are not really truly your friends...I have the same issue and I can tell you now, walking away or staying away from such people can really help. If you continue to stay with them you will just get worse, more sad and more of a target to attacks.

Found this video at the right time. I've been stuck in the train of negative thinking for years now and speaking from long term experience, Yes, overthinking can drive you crazy and really mess up your whole entire life. Recently this past week I've been over thinking alot for some reason. I've been struggling with anxiety, overthinking, stress and ADHD all my life, started practicing meditation, full awareness and started overthinking about my issues and how I overthink. But recently I've had many realizations and realized I'm not my thoughts and I do have power over my mind and body. Thank you. Thank you for helping me clarify and control my brain. A zero, To feel better reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath and mind [brain] are closely related and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Let change happen. When taking a walk, sitting in a park, when reading, before sleep etc observe your breath sensations. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Reduce negative social media. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes. Senior Counsellor.

I used to overthink soooo much but what made lose those thoughts that were killing me in the inside and affecting me for around 2 to 3 months were to talk to someone u trust and ask for advice because that's what I did and I felt so much better at the end and I haven't overthinked since that day.

I have been In a relationship for 5 months, I’d always overthink about my girlfriends actions which would always make me sad/depressed. I started to distrust my girlfriend despite my undying love for her. A couple of days ago I had to make a decision for my health. I had to end my relationship because of my Anxiety and Depression. I was constantly getting myself down with negative thoughts, I had isolated myself from everyone and everything that made me happy. I stayed focused on my girlfriend and forgot about myself. The best advice I can give to people is stay close to the ones that make you laugh and cherish those moments. If something is getting you down make a decision. Pain is always going to be there because that’s how life is but, we can choose if we want to suffer. Keep yourself happy and do what makes you you. When I overcome everything I will be going to my girlfriends house and apologising to her. I will then try to get her back and I will have my self awareness. Keep telling yourself “I AM IN CONTROL”. Overthinking for me is like a toxic friend who wants your whole attention forever. I can’t control it, it makes me do things beyond my normal habits. I even overthink about how people change and how to be like he or she or how to impress somebody or myself. It just makes me cry, but I am glad that this video is here
