Im so glad it is helping you and thanks for the super thanks. I have noticed some mouse clicks and static in some of my older videos. In my more recent videos I have used software to filter any background noises out. Unfortunately if I re-record it ,it will lose its ranking and this is my second most popular video. I lost my Dad four years ago today. It was completely unexpected, and it hit me like a tonne of bricks. I watched my Nana pass away 12 years ago and witnessed my step Dad having a heart attack 15 years ago, which he didn't survive. I've recently started CBT for health anxiety, but apart from drawing arrows, I haven't taken anything from it. I don't fully know why my health anxiety started (14 months ago) and don't know how to navigate through it. I was recommended videos like these by a lovely lady on a Facebook page. I listned to most of this one. I strongly disagree with 3 points that were made: 1. Symptoms of anxiety are harmless. Fight flight or freeze is NOT harmless. In cases of persistant, severe threat, stress or traum and with chronic, activation of the SNS, the brain and nervous system pathways, literally change, so as to quickly react to what is concieved as a dangerouse, threatening, unsafe world. This causes PTSD, CPTSD AND SERIOUSE MENTAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DYSFUNCTION, AS WELL AS PHYSICAL ILL HEALTH. 2. A calm mind calms the body. A highly activated Nervous System with its thickened and strengthened Amygdala ( seat of emotions and stress responses) effectively "hijacks" the rational brain and causes dissasosiation, brain fog, and a decrease in cognitive processing. Calming the body with body tequniques like deep breathing, stretching and mindfull movement practices like yoga, quigong, tai chi, dancing or mindfull walking, CALMS THE BODY. The mind is infact calmed through the medium of the body known as "BODY UP APROACH" TO STRESS AND TRAUMA RELIEF. It is now seen by leaders in this thinking ( P. levine, D Dana, Stephen Porges and others that therapy for Chronic stress and Anxiety and particularly Trauma should be focused on the body. 3. Symptoms of stress activation in the body should be ignored Symtoms of stress MUST infect be actively recognized and acknowledged, and thereby lead the person to the tequniques needed to calm those symptoms As the body calms and sooths the SNS, thoughts slow, the rational mind (Precortex ) becomes more receptive to new ideas and thoughts suggested by self or another, and Cognitive Pocesses return. ONLY NOW can Mindfulness Meditation, Cognitive therapies, Auto suggestion, hypnotherapy, mantras or I am statements reinforce the healing work of the BODY UP approach. "YOU CANNOT THINK YOUR WAY OUT OF A STRESS RESPONSE!" People who have suffered severe ongoing, inescapable stress or trauma can show traits of PTSD OR CPTSD and are easily triggered into SNS activation and will need to practice these techniques at leaast 4 times per week and when ever they detect symptoms of the stress response, in order to build new rest, relax (PNS) pathways through Neuropladticity, and increase their Vagal tone (ability to return to Rest and Relax after a stress response) in order to reach long term healing. There is no quick fix!!!!!! In my opinion and personal experience, Medications like Benzodiazepams and SSRI are treating symptoms and not the underlying brain changes. They should only be used in conjuntion with the above therapies for short term, and clients should be educated regarding all potential harmfull side effects of long term use. In the case of Benzodiazepams Clients should be warned of the significant risk of Addiction and the need for higher doses for the same effect. .
