My sister works as an auxiliary nurse (health care). At the end of her working-week, she sleeps the entire first day off, undisturbed. A whole 24 to 36 hours of sleep. She might get up to use the bathroom and then goes right back to bed. One time I read about it being called "sleep debt".

XxWraith24xX but what quality of sleep will it be? You might fall asleep but your melatonin productivity time will be two hours behind. Which means 2 hours of your sleep will be of shitty quality. People think they sleep ok but they don’t. The repair mechanism the body goes through during sleep is affected if your melatonin is too low at the point of falling asleep. Body is most affective at this repair mechanism between 10 pm and 2 am. If your not in bed by 9:30 every night your getting shitty sleep

At the beginning of 2021 I started going to bed at 11pm and would read a book for an hour before that. I slowly stared to wake up at exactly 7am. I felt energised and would always start my day in a good mood. I slowly lost that routine because of work and college and now I feel like shit again 😂 I'm trying to get back on track and I have to remind myself everyday how good I used to feel back then...

I can say through experience that the absolute best way to start waking up early is to go to bed at a consistent time. I used to take a nap every day and go to bed at around 12:00 a.m. I would then wake up around 8-9 a.m. Now, I go to bed at around 10: 30 consistently without any naps throughout the day and I wake up without an alarm clock around 6:30 feeling energized.

From reading all the comments, I’m seeing the best way to get good sleep and wake up feeling better (from my experience as well) is your routine. If you go to bed anytime, eat snacks, don’t drink water or shower, watching KZbin videos it won’t help. But someone who goes to bed generally around the same time, taking time to pray or read before bed, and taking care of physical needs before sleep would probably sleep better. The discipline gained from these little habits not only can make you feel so much better but help you be more disciplined in so many other areas of life

Clearing ur bowel in the morning is extremely important.Take 2 tablets of triphala (max 3) every night before you go to bed. Triphala is an ayurvedic Indian mix of herbs available in the form of tablet and churna (powder) in all the ayurvedic pharmacies. You won't snooze anymore. Go to toilet half awake and come out fully refreshed. This keeps you active throughout the day and you get sleep on time. Try, it really works.

@Zatoichi Ayurveda has made it simpler to understand how the five elements control our mind and body. We are made up of five elements I.e. Earth, water, fire, air and space. Each one of us have predominant combinations of elements that depends on our parents'. These combinations of elements are called Vata(air and space), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha(Earth and water). Read about how the imbalance of five elements in our body controls our behaviour. Get ur pulse reading done by an ayurvedic physician. We can not completely change our body type but this can be controlled to some extent thru our food habbits according to our body type, ayurvedic medical guidance and spiritual lifestyle. Learn how to meditate. Eat fibre rich foods before ur meals. Most of the diseases attack a body because of unhealthy gut. You can try ayurvedic detox programs as well.

I noticed after about a week i started waking up feeling at least not tired anymore if not refreshed exactly by not eating anymore crap food everyday and exercising. I eat better food such as nuts, cottage cheese, frozen fruit and vegetables, and wheat sandwiches with lean ham and low fat mayonnaise. It has already made such a big difference!

About tip 4, I think you can activate the “orange screen mode” even without apps, if you’re on iPhone. You can just go to the control center (the menu with a lot of features that pops up when you swipe upwards 2 times), hold down the luminosity bar and select the button that says “Night shift mode”. The screen will go a little darker but also will become way more orange.

This is an old video) Android and iOS (and Windows) received this feature almost simultaneously in 2018, if I'm not mistaken. So, yeah, you can and should use embedded gadget solutions. Also you better leave gadgets anyway before bed just to make your brain calm down and stop analyzing information.

If you go to Dr. Mike videos he said that, yes, "orange screen mode" can help with the "chemical part" but using ur phone before bed can have others bad effects too, like anxiety by looking at social media or deadlines, stress bc u thought about work or lost a game and even sadness cause u finished ur netflix show that night and the list goes on... So yeah, is not only about the light from ur phone.

My main tip: do NOT think! I often laid in bed and kept monologuing my feelings in whole novels to myself to work through whatever emotions I had from the last day. And I couldn't fall asleep that way, because I was concentrating on all these thoughts. What helped me a lot is to write these thoughts down beforehand, even if I just type it into my phone and then delete it again, it helps a lot to organize my feelings and have some closure. When in bed I would actually sometimes think to myself: Don't think. Think of nothing. Nothing... Nothing... I know it sounds and even feels stupid but it helps me a lot to focus on this word to not drift away with my thoughts. I guess it could work with anything. So anytime you feel your thoughts drifting, shift it back to a pre set boring word. I always fall asleep a lot faster that way! :)

My favourite is this attention exercise where I need to focus to tap some rapid moving figures. You also have other things like solving a puzzle, calculate, scan a barcode in your bathroom, and so on. (And you can change difficulty on the task) It really helps getting you out of the auto mode of turning of the alarm when you're basically asleep.

Great tips man! Literally people are just not getting enough sleep and are looking for a miracle. If you don't eat enough you are always hungry, why should it be different in sleep?

Tuesday 12th November: "To find out how many hours you personal need to wake up fresh go to bed at the same time every night for a week and wake up with out an alarm and write down the hours you slept" Tuesday 19th November: I need only 168 hours per week.

yea, i feel you. I have clinical depression and hypersomnia as well as insomnia. Can't sleep at night, when I try to get up in the morning my body literally doesn't let me. If I don't set an alarm i'll sleep for 12 hours and still not feel rested. It sucks when the advice seems so straightforward but still doesn't work

I did all of these things, even before watching this video, and it’s working. The only thing that I can’t control is when my cat woke me up at 4 AM to get some food.

It's pretty hard to wake up without an alarm for a week when you have to wake up to work at 5-6 am.

obviously important points here, but I think everyone knows these. For me personally, I would struggle to fall asleep and then always wake up tired. Or I'd have to go to sleep 9 hours before I want to wake up which is really inconvenient and hard to do. The 1 thing I noticed is that 1) it feels easier to go to bed later and later each night and the only time I ever get good sleep was when I am very busy throughout he day and expended mental energy. It turns out I was doing too little, doing the same habits everyday that took no effort or mental energy, and doing that doesn't make me tired until much later, but when I do go to bed much later, I still have to get up early and then it starts my day off horribly because I am tired. Challenging myself mentally throughout the day is obviously good for my brain, but it allows me to fall asleep with ease and wake up feeling energized. Im all about being disciplined and doing things you don't want to do, but forcing yourself to wake up early when you feel so tired is honestly just not good for you

I think one primary driver of feeling sluggish in the morning that was missed in this video is diet. Reduce intake of sugary, processed, and fried foods as much as possible to feel better each morning.

I think the primary driver pf feeling sluggish in the morning was mentioned in the video - even, if strangely, only as the second point: you're simply not getting enough sleep.
