Should you keep it in the green box or a watch organiser
@bobswatches3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dewan, It is really all preference. Some like to keep it in the watch winders, or in their personal watch box's. The reccomended best way to store you watch would be on a watch winder if you are not wearing it reguarly.

Any concerns on the direction of placement of the watch over long periods in storage? Does it matter if the face is place face down or on its side for years in storage?
@bobswatches3 жыл бұрын
Hey Phif, this is a good point. Depending on the watch you may want to rotate a certain way depending on its movement and inside mechanics.

Question? If you store your Rolex on the pillow that comes with the watch won't it streatch the band?? Thanks
@andywilliams48873 жыл бұрын
I have two Mozsly devices to manage the power reserve of 5 quality automatic watches. I tend to rotate the watches according to when they were last worn and by their power reserve. I switch on the winders for around 8-10 hrs a day only when I think necessary (not always the same watch naturally) and they keep all pieces ticking along very nicely. Super quiet, not silly money and very reliable, they can run off the mains, be linked together, or run on two AA batteries if you don't want the hassle of cables and I've found the latter easily last for over two months when operating them on the standard bi-directional 650TPD setting. They cannot overwind a decent watch - if that was the case and you wear an auto watch daily, it would break in no time. If you are going away for a long time and are not taking all your collection (who does lol), just let the watches wind down, stop and rest. it will do them no harm at all.

What is the most correct way to store an automatic watch will we leave it with the Crown closed or not
@bobswatches2 ай бұрын
The most correct way to store an automatic watch is to leave the crown closed. When not wearing the watch, it's best to keep it in a safe, dry place, and closing the crown ensures that no dust or moisture gets into the movement, which can damage the watch over time. If you store the watch in a watch box or winder, keep the crown closed and make sure the watch is fully wound if you plan to wear it soon. Just ensure it's stored away from magnetic fields and extreme temperatures to protect the movement!

Ok so I have the safe at home and I'm storing it long term. Should I take it out and wind it a couple times a year once every few months? Hypothetically speaking. Keeping in mind that the date and time would not need to be accurate, just so the mechanism inside doesn't stick

They say if it is really old and has not been serviced. You don't know the state of the seals, if they degraded, the watch isn't water/moisture resistant anymore.

Make sure the safe you choose can be bolted to the floor from inside the safe so thieves can't access the bolts. Free standing safes can be taken and opened later.

@johnscott46934 жыл бұрын
All fine except you missed THE most important factor... Never, ever buy a cheap watch winder. Their mechanisms are not only unreliable, noisy and ugly they have magnetic fields that can damage your watch (or at least make its timekeeping rate fail).

I like to buy a safe and put some rock in it then put the safe in the obvious place and then keep the real valuable item somewhere else. So when a robber came and saw a safe they will just took it back home and not the real valuable item hidden somewhere else in the house 🤣🤣

nope, which means that unless you have Patek, VC, Roger Dubois, RM, AP, or independent watch makers like Gronefeld, you cant store. This is not made for peasant basic SS watches with basic movements with basic finishing like Omega or Rolex or Tudor or Zenith. Only brands above i mention and independent haute horology watch makers.
