Sorry I beg to differ. Predators want to grab kids and get out of the area without being seen or heard. At least this way the technique slows them down and gives the kids a chance to yell and create a commotion. Hopefully someone in the area will hear what is happening and come to their aid. This is not about hurting the adult cause your right it won't, it's about giving yourself a chance to survive. Thanks for your comments

these kinds of techniques have the ability to save lives not just because of the physical technique itself but because you are teaching children to use good tactics to escape an adult who is intent on abducting them. This combined with the yelling "help stranger hes not my dad!" that you showed in your other video could really save a child's life. Thanks for posting these and I hope you don't mind if I poach a few of these drills for my children's programs.

The kidnapper wouldn't want attention drawn to them. What they're looking for is a silent, scared kid the complies. If they try and grab a kid they starts screaming "Let me go!! You aren't my parent!!" passerbyers are going to stop and watch. The child, of course, is not nearly strong enough to throw off an adult (though they let go instinctivly) but they're scared of being noticed.

This is quite interesting. I'm 13 and a few years ago I did kung fu. We were taught to kind of rotate our wrists when they grabbed it. I've used it on people my age ( in self defense ) but never on an adult. Thank you this is good to know if that doesn't work.

I will keep these in mind. I am 27 but im only 4'8 so I thought would be better to look for defense videos for kids due to the fact that I am short but im worried that if ever have to use the technique that my body weight wouldn't stop the attacker cause im only 85 pounds, wouldn't he just be able to walk over to his car with me like that?

This is video is awesome, and I as an adult was taught to do these moves in a self-defense class! YELL as soon as you drop: "fire" or "help me/stop" Point was - make as much noise as you can to get attention! My question would be, as you drop, and kick - or then grab around their legs, could you not slam up into their privates? Thanks!

I live in Sweden and have two kids. Thanks for these videos, sadly we need to teach our kids these skills here now. Thank you for uploading. A question from my 9 year old daughter. - what should i do if the attacker pulls my arm/ wrists when i drop, so i spin around and get into a head first towards the attacker (still with the back on the ground) Use fist to balls or teeth on flesh? Dont ask me where she got those words fro. ;) She's a smart one at least .

Apphia, I totally agree with you about the last place to be is on the ground. Like I mentioned below though the idea is to slow them down and make as much noise as possible to attract attention. Let me ask you this question, do you feel the mental development of a child, ages 8 - 15 is capable of handling the stress of a fight or fight situation? I'm not trying to start a debate here, I am just trying to learn as a parent... And, how much training is involved before the actions become instinctive? I would assume it is dependent on age and development...?
@HiscoeJiuJitsu
@HiscoeJiuJitsu 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, each kid is different I guess. I think if give them the tools to defend themselves and get them to practice frequently and increase the intensity in our classes I would hope they could stay calm and react. I think the same applies to adults, if you are not the kind of person to show any outward aggression when needed then could that adult respond in a stressful situation. I truly believe it is based on the individual. If we are not real with our kids then they are living not knowing the true dangers that exist.
@starbuckwhy
@starbuckwhy 8 жыл бұрын
+Brian S (RubberDuck) the important thing is to deeply instil in the kid the idea that they should be fighting back when they are attacked by an adult. the exact move are not that important. as for the kids being able to handle it. i'm a very very sensitive person, but i got in my first fist fight when i was 7. and was choking people out by the time i was 13. kids are not adaptive, but they are highly reactive. * a kid can handle whatever their life requires them to handle.
@starbuckwhy
@starbuckwhy 8 жыл бұрын
+starbuckwhy *adapting means getting what needs to be done at the lowest possible cost. solving a conflict with a few diplomatic words rather than a big fight would be an example. being highly reactive means releasing as much or more energy as was put into what was done to you. crying because someone said a harsh word to you is an example, screaming scratching and clawing at someone who grabs your arm is also an example. your kids will do the one you have shown them how to do.

I think there's a better way than this. Just bring your elbow up to the other person's elbow, it creates an impossible angle for them to keep holding. All the while having a strong base (feet apart) so you don't get dragged so easily. I learned this in the Women Empowered program by Gracie University.

Definitely won't work. Do not get on your back and kick your kicks will not hurt a grown man and getting on your back is exactly what they want. They will not try to pull you up, they'll punch you while on your back and carry you off severely injured or unconscious. Bite the wrist with everything you have and pull back (don't hold the bite pull flesh with you) and spit and run, make a lot of noise to show the attacker you have zero inhibition.
