Nursing student myself.. I agree with all her tips.. You'll get stressed out.. When you do, either sleep it off or go for a quick run.. Don't seat there and try to study it won't work..

I am not a nurse. Mild LD and graduated 4 times from college (my inferiority complex). Years later I found a book called "Becoming a Master Student". The advice in that book covered many coping techniques, I had developed. I gave a copy to my niece and nephew before they went to college. Best thing I figured out about studying. I rewrote by hand my notes after class. That night. Replayed the entire lecture in my head and I thought of possible test questions while doing it.

Most Nursing programs are very competitive. That being said, I am retaking three classes I got Ds in to better my GPA. What else can I do to better my chances of being selected? I've taken all the prereqs sans one, which I am taking this summer. I reaaalllly want to get in. Also, did you work as well as attend school? I HAVE to work since I live on my own and u don't know how to balance work and school both fulltime.
@AshleyLorenaAdkins9 жыл бұрын
It is definitely important to maintain a high G. P.A., because like you said, most nursing schools require a high G.P.A. I also worked before/during nursing school, but only about 20 hours a week at the most. It is difficult to work full time and go to school full time, but people do manage to pull it off! I recommend finding a healthy balance between school and work. Yes, we have to work to be able to afford "life," but also remember that whatever job you are doing now is not your forever career, like nursing. :) keep up the hard work and you will do great!

MsHAHall I here you on that, do what you can to increase your GPA but hopefully if you retake those classes you didn't do so well in the first time, make sure you do great the 2nd time. To help increase your chances of getting selected into a nursing program is a no brainer: apply to several, do not limit yourself; be willing to commute out of the city/area you are most familiar with but DO CHECK REQUIREMENTS; not all programs have the same prerequisites. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

🎯 Oh man'am, let me give my opnion. If someone think that its course is hard. Two stuff can be happening. a) You are in the wrong course b) lack dedication. Nursing chooses who will be nurse, not you choose to be.

I don't know if this counts as nursing school but I start the CNA program in August and would love anyone's tips or reccomndations . thank you!
@AshleyLorenaAdkins9 жыл бұрын
That is awesome! Becoming a CNA is great experience...especially if you want to be a nurse. :) my best advice is to be open minded. CNAs do a lot of nursing care that isn't the prettiest, but it is SO important. CNAs are such a critical part of the nursing team. :) I also recommend studying a little bit everyday to stay on top of it! Don't procrastinate. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions! :)

nessfaye090 I was a CNA just after high school -my mom made get a job (lol). I had no idea what it was about. Then 1st day of class I thought this is gonna suck so bad. Fast forward to when I got past the awkward newness, it was literally the BEST job I ever had. So rewarding. I’m an LVN now (My CNA union paid for it for free) I work in anesthesia and currently in school for LVN-RN step up program. I would 100% go back to being a CNA if they matched RN pay (lol) I still honestly found it as my favorite job I’ve EVER had. I made so many beautiful friendships with so many patients. They have taught me so much. I’ve even brought my bf to say hi to them since I always asked their advice about him lol. My advice to u is just be compassionate and know that you’re really effecting people’s lives. Use it as a stepping stone to further your career in nursing, don’t wait. 🙏😊Good Luck. 👩🏻⚕️

Hey Ashley would you consider doing lvn to rn bridge program or going the traditional community college route?
@AshleyLorenaAdkins8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I personally have no experience as far as going LPN/LVN to RN, so I don't feel like I would be a good candidate to talk about a bridge program. If I did, I would soley be reading information off of the internet, and not giving my own personal experience/advice. I recommend looking up the different nursing programs in your area, and contacting a nursing advisor with any of your questions. :) I am sorry I could not be more of a help!

OK so I could point I'm deciding if I want to be a nurse or a dental hygienist and Ines cannot gonna make it through nursing school so can you tell me like the hours that a nurse usually works and like night or day or how do they sign off and how does it usually end and by the way I love you
@AshleyLorenaAdkins9 жыл бұрын
+Katelyn Kuehner This depends on the facility. Nursing is very flexible. Most hospitals require that nurses work 3, 12 hour shifts a week. Either days or nights. Some places are 8 hour shifts, some clinics are different. It really depends on your needs and desires.

You are so good that you would have been successful at anything. I hate telling everyone that they're going to be fine because the truth is that not all of them are. We have so many people trying so hard right now that are still failing exams. You must be a genius to maintain a 4.0 during level one. 85 % of the class scored below a 70% on our first exam. I wish you were in my nursing program. I feel like I need the pills from limitless to pass this program. My brain is not retaining and applying the way I need it to. With that being said our program is at a community college and they did close down for one semester to change things because their pass rate on NCLEX got really bad. Perhaps this has something to do with the exam scores?
@AshleyLorenaAdkins9 жыл бұрын
That may have something to do with the exam scores!!!! A student can only do so much if they are not being taught correctly!

Badriah Al Mutairi Time management is definitely a HUGE factor in surviving nursing school. One thing that I do is make lists/keep a calendar. I make lists everyday of things I want to accomplish. I check them off as I go. :) Also, keeping a calendar helps me make sure I don't miss anything! Best of luck. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

yes nursing school is hard, and managing time is very important and memorization does not work there, check this site to practice question for exams, it says test bank but dont be scare because you probably wont get any of those questions for exams instructors are doing their own questions, they know people are selling these questions, but for practice and understand the material these questions can save you lots of time: nursingtestbank.info/
