En España las romerias, fiestas y todo eso se celebran a lo grande con amigos familia comida y bebida, porque nos gusta el jaleo, pero luego las misas no las pisamos ni pa las bodas :D directamente vamos al banquete. I would say it is what Beatriz said, it means, do whatever you want but I'm pretty sure you will have to deal with consequences. Kind of. Like, if you want to meet your ex for coffee and your best friend advises you against it, and finally says, "tú misma". It means it is up to you, but implies the person saying it is not happy about the situation. The example Joanna said about her friends, we are probably missing a lot of context there, because it is not a strong word at all, but if you are arguing it can be something not nice or annoying. Same as saying "I don't care", it is not a curse word but can be bad in an argument depending on context. Hope it was helpful!

you know, the thing is that these swears that sound so strong and wrong in english are not really a big thing when we use them. Like, swearing is just a part of our everyday comunication. sure, you wouldn't use them on a formal conversation, but it's weird to have a casual conversation where no one is swearing. like, the one about shitting on your dead relatives might sound wrong, but you can just say it to a friend when they beat you at mario kart, there's really no weight behind it. the meaning of our swears comes more from the context when they are said than the words themselfs.

I live in Québec, and québécois swears are all church related. We have one that is the same as the communion wafer that we use in nearly the same way, ostie. We have lots of others, like tabarnak (tabernacle), câlisse (chalice), viarge (Virgin), criss (christ), sacrament (sacrament), ciboire (pyx), calvaire (Calvary). You can string them together by adding ‘de’ between them. The most common phrase is ‘ostie d’câlisse de tabarnak’.

Ok so this is not about spanish but related to the ostia thing. In Quebec, the vast majority of our swears are based on catholic words. A lovely sentence like "osti de calis j'men tabarnak" means i really don't care, but literally translates to "communion wafer of the chalice (ceremonial cup for the wine) i don't tabernacle (large place of worship)". What's fun about that phrase is, you can swap some words and the meaning doesn't change. So "osti de tabarnak j'men calis'' is totally the same as "osti de calis j'men tabarnak".

Los latinoamericanos dicen que los españoles hablamos muy rápido, con mucha rudeza, en todo muy elevado y que parecemos enfadados. Alguno me dijo una vez que el acento español les resulta como si les estuvieran azotando. Además empleamos muchas palabras y expresiones insultantes y blasfemias. El colombiano Pablo Victoria tiene una teoría al respecto. Según él esto se debe a que España se ha mantenido a lo largo de su historia en constante situación de guerra y que por ese motivo la gente adoptó la forma de hablar del soldado, un habla de cuartel. Puede ser, o puede que no, de todas formas los extranjeros no deben deducir al hablar con un español que emplea ese tono porque está enfadado con él, es nuestra forma normal de expresarnos. x'DDD Wonderful segment! I love it that you enjoy our curses! You know? We aren't actually that Catholic at all. In fact, being somewhat young to middle aged and religious is seen as weird. In fact, we often comment on how weird is it that Latin America is so extremely religious (or so it seems to us and is proven by people from there that we know.) But by the time these sacrilegious curses were created the country was waaay more religious, it's true. However those curses are all normal-speak. Like, you don't even need for something serious to happen to you. I've seen people yell *"¡Me cago en Dios!" (I shit in God!)* after spilling a bit of water on their books. It depend on the person, of course, but generally we just go around the day saying "I shit in the milk" or greeting our friends like "Hola, cabrón :D" So yeah... that's a lot of cursing but it doesn't really feel that much like cursing

3:30 In Quebec, another (historically) Catholic place, where the church controlled a lot of public and private life, we also use a whole series of church-related swears. (Even the word "swear" or "curse" is a religious remnant) One of those curses is "osti" which is from "host" or communion wafer.

Very late to this party, but a region in my country (where incidentally I was also born) is known for being... Let's say "liberal" in the use of profanity. As in, we're known to make some people blush for the amount of profanity we spew from our mouths, and also for saying more profane expressions than words in a sentence. With that in mind, we cut to a tale my dad, who was also born and raised in that same region, told me a few years ago, that's probably perfectly exemplifies this. Back when my dad was younger, and cows were still used as traction animals for agricultural equipment, someone in my dad's village asked someone else to borrow a cow, to use in a pair, to pull a sower. This was common, people would lend animals for those purposes. When the cow was returned, she wasn't OK, because she wasn't used to pull on her preferred side, so after that she would pull in a wonky way. The person that got the cow back uttered the following sentence: "O filho da p**a fo***-me a p**a da vaca". Which roughly translates to "The son of a wh*re f***ed up the wh*re cow". He was not happy. Funnily enough, everyone knew exactly what the man meant by that, what had happened, his state of mind regarding the event, and who the man was referring to. Also, in that region, two friends can (and often will) genuinely call each other "filho da p**a" (son of a wh*re) as a term of endearment, so you can see just how liberal the use of profanity is.
