How to take off the center console on a 08 Ford Fusion or similar

1:30 what's underneath that little square plastic cover, is called a Shift Release button. If you need to move the gear shifter with no power or it is not releasing on it's own, You can depress the button with a key or pin to free the gear shifter.

bless you bro... when I took it out it was easy but when I try to put it back I was stuck in back there were a piece of metal inside like a washer! that comes through the two rear screws... oh god!! idk how to but it back!!

That little button is actually used to get your car in gear if your battery is dead or stuck in gear from being parked on a incline or something

Its a shift release button for if ur battery dies and u need to shift in to neutral to move it

That button you don’t know what it’s for beside the shifter should be a key hole, it’s used to unlock your shifter to put on in neutral

The middle console is there a cover inside it like fhe bigger box on the bottom? I have a 2010 Ford Fusion and my bottom part is missing?

Hi! Thanks for the video. Do you know how to remove the side panel of the console? I got the top off, but to the left of the gear shift, there's a little green clip of some kind. It's green with two white screws/pieces. I think that's the only thing (aside from the screws on the outside of the panel that I already removed) keeping it on. I think I spilled something and i need to get in there really well to clean it. So, in short, how do I get that little green and white clip apart? Will I need to replace it with a new one to put the panel back on? Thanks so much!

Rachael Duran I think that the whole center console is all one piece once you take off that piece I took off. You might have to slide the center console towards the trunk area and it'll lift up.
